Yes, once you install a9lh, you will always need an arm9loaderhax.bin file on the root of your SD card, or else your 3DS will not boot.

thanks mate, same during installation as well ? I mean just arm9loaderhax.bin and not the other files, or during install all of them ?

sorry, just clarifying :)

The 3DSX in fact contains everything.

On installation, you just need the 3dsx. Once installed, arm9loaderhax will load a payload on the SD named arm9loaderhax.bin.

You don't need it to install a9lh, but you'll need it afterward. For example, I can assume you're using ReiNAND, right? Download Rei's payload (arm9loaderhax.bin) and put that on the root of your SD card. Once you install a9lh, you'll instantly boot into your emuNAND.

so just needs arm9loaderhax.bin on root and nothing else ?
In fact installer doesn't need even arm9loaderhax.bin. Installer would install exploited firms anyways.
arm9loaderhax.bin is just a payload. If you don't have it, you'll stuck with blackscreen after reboot. But have no affect on the exploit itself. It just allows you to boot into cfw immediately after you install arm9lh.

Nope, when no payload is found, the system shutdowns.

Guess I need to cross-post. Didn't realize how many threads there were about this...

I built it fine on the first try, but I don't fully understand how it all works. Specifically, the firmware files used to compile it. Does it matter which Version my sysnand is? Why would I build with n3ds firmware files, and install that in my o3ds? Can you use this, and the super-duper patched TWL and AGB firms at the same time? If so, I'd like to cold boot into sysnand with sigchecks patched (and TWL and AGB patched), while still being able to launch GW emunand through hblauncher_loader or something.

Oh... And I want to do it on both an O3DS, and an N3DS. Now... Which payload/CFW should I be using to accomplish this?
