Not entirely true....if you do it right. :P
Nope. You could only fix it with a hardmod.
Both payloads aren't patching the FIRM to never update the FIRM0 and FIRM1 partitions.

And updating using CIAs and removing the NATIVE_FIRM one is another process, too.

I know. But if you update in SysNAND using these: you brick or you lose it.
And LCD init is not out yet. Seriously, the brick rate isn't worth it yet.
I don't know why'd you want to update your sysNAND at this moment, but you can if you really wanted to. (Although not by normal means.)

Edit: Ninja'd.. Typing on a phone's so slow :c

And still, it's not worth doing it for most of the users.
A few seconds less to boot into emuNAND is really nothing. And most sysNAND system updates from 9.2 are mistakes. So you would brick/lose it by mistake.

If I understand this correctly, you need ARM11 access to control screen init, but what about other outputs like LEDs and the speaker? Are they also ARM11-exclusive?
I'm not implying that we should make sound-based menus, that would be dumb as hell.

Yes I am.

Not really, that would REALLY be dumb as hell.

It's a must get Morgan Freeman to do the voices

Any success stories on 2ds without hardmod? :)
This guy right here.
Fair warning, I DID error on my first downgrade and landed myself a nice brick, but that was on emuNAND, so it was fine.
I then followed the first edition of the guide and downgraded sysNAND directly, which I really don't recommend.
The second edition is much better.
There is one 2ds success story from what I know. I would do it, but I feel like I'm gonna brick.
Any luck with the second edition of the OTP guide?

Same, i'm really hesitant because the 2ds never even was on 2.1. At least i should be able to get back to 7.1 with Omega Ruby if i understand correctly
No! Do not update! Omega Ruby is what bricked my 2DS. Once you get your OTP, use Decrypt9 on 2.1 to restore your sysNAND backup from 9.2
