Lock's Quest is good, but in my opinion not in the same league as Ninjatown.

Desktop Tower Defense and Fuuun Dairoujou. Fuuun Dairoujou is easily played without any knowledge of Japanese.

Plants vs Zombies is a great TD game on the DS

If you have a DSi or DSiXL you could get Fieldrunners. Was originally made for the iPhone and has been ported to just about every other system since selling well there.

Also Plants vs. Zombies is good.

there are some other official TD games too, only they're DSiWare, so they're only downloadble via Nintendo Wifi Shop as of now.
