Apple releases iOS 4.3 for iPad, iPhone,iTouch
Well, it's not March 11th, but you can now download iOS 4.3 for you iPhone, iPad or iPod touch (most of them, anyway). That, of course, brings with it mobile hotspot functionality for iPhones, along with a variety of new AirPlay features, a new and improved version of Safari, and a number of other more minor improvements and fixes (like an option to control how your iPad's side switch behaves).

Hooray! I hate the side switch being a mute on the iPad! But i suppose that the jailbreakers in our community might see this as a bad thing. Good luck to them in getting through any new AP

i think the guys at greenpoison said they were gonna release a patch on 11th march. They were waiting for this to come out first. I wonder why the ipod 2/3/4 g cannot have mobile hotspot functionality as it would have helped those with ds lites on wep encryption

iOS 4.3 doesn't add anything that makes me want to update. I never use AirPlay, I don't want the ASLR(I think that is what it's called) security making userland exploits harder to use. So yeah.

Uhm... because how can it have an internet connection if its WiFi is being used to allow other WiFi devices to connect to it. A wifi chip cannot be Ad-Hoc and Infrastructure at the same time.

I WILL NOT update my iPod JUST to get an update... The old ones SHOULD be compatible. Imagine if the DSes bought in 2009 won't play newer games, or the new Pokemon Games. People would RAGE.

"Buy an updated DS" Nintendo would say, and they would be hated. Apple does this shit and gets away with it.

3rd Gen 8GB iPods are actually cunningly disguised 2nd Gen 8GB iPods. Apple were arses and only updated the bootROM on them to close exploits.
So basically: If it IS a 3rd Gen (i.e. 32/64GB) then it isn't.

Also Schlupi so you're saying that we should all still be using the original iPod Touch hardware to maintain compatibility? No Infinity Blade? No high res screens? Its called progress. Apple waited a few years before cutting support, they've cut the 2nd Gens a LOT quicker.

I am not saying they shouldn't update their product.

I am just saying they should consider those who have their old hardware, and still want to do SOME of the features that they can.

I don't expect my 1g iPod Touch to scan barcodes or run the LATEST crazy features the newer models support. I just want better compatibilty with Apps that should really have no problem working on the 1g.

If MineCraft is released and not working on the 1st Gen I will Flip Shit.
