On my R4 I have Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney (European version in Spanish and Italian). The problem is that when I press Start to save the game and then tap "Yes", it goes to a black screen and freezes. Same when I press L, R, Start and Select at the same time to reset the game. I did that at a cross-examination with Kristoph and the game died.

Is there a way to fix this? I'm downright annoyed when I have to restart my 3DS to load a savegame.

No one has answered me yet?

Tell us more about your which R4 card you have (take a photo of the cartridge)

Are you running the official kernel? If you are, please switch to retro's files.

The official kernel is seriously junk
I also suggest making a backup of your microSD and following the formatting part of his post.
ALWAYS BACKUP your µSD to a backup folder on your PC BEFORE formatting!!!
Format your µSD with the SDFormatter
Formatting options : Overwrite format

Extract the latest Multi Cart Update and open the folder for your particular cart and copy the contents to the root of your µSD
Note : Some CLONE carts use a different folder structure, so you may need to copy the DATs to a folder OTHER than TTMenu depending on your flashcart
Sometimes formatting can be an issue with sav files, but it's also worth doing just to make sure your microSD card is properly formatted.

R4i-3DS V1.85b with Wi-Fi.
Yeah, but if you are running the official kernel from the site, I suggest switching to retro’s files. It’s most likely the kernel you are running that’s causing the issues for you.

I can't find the one that is used for R4i carts with the Wi-Fi engine!! Unfortunately my flashcart hasn't got the label and I can't exactly tell what version it is.

It should be in the folder named something like “R4SDHC” or R4i-SDHC.
