Android Anyone here had the Motorola Droid?

I recently got the LG Ally and I don't like it because it lags like hell. I was wondering if the Motorola Droid lags on Froyo or if it works fine. I want to switch my phone to the Droid but not sure if I really should. I would get the Incredible but it is to expensive. Does Flash 10.1 run on the Droid? I just want to know if its a stable phone that doesn't crash and slow down because that is what I am currently getting with my Ally.

I haven't got a droid, but I've got froyo on my htc desire Z, and I sometimes do get lag, but not that bad. Just takes 2 or 3 seconds before the menu starts scrolling for instance, or it takes a while for the menu to open. It doesn't happen that often.

If you can, go into settings > applications > active services or the option above that and close what apps you don't use

I heard if you overclock the Motorola Droid it would be better. But I was just wondering if you will overclock it will that kill stability? Like on my LG Ally I overclocked it and sometimes I get reboots or even kernal panicks.

I've got no experience with that, I'm not going to overclock my phone, 'cause it's already at 800mhz which is enough for me.
After some googling I found that my phone (htc desire z) can be overclocked to 1.9Ghz, and then it's still stable.
After some more googling, I found this site, which says that you can overclock it safely from 550mhz to 800mhz, which is a nice performance increase. You could go as high as 1Ghz, but users have said that it will become unstable, just like your LG.

I'm the one who wrote the overclock code for the Desire Z. You definitely don't want to be running it at 1.9GHz, I'd top out at 1.5 or so.

Most Droids should be safe at 1GHz.

My sisters Droid is running stable with Froyo. My droid 2 is running silky smooth too.

I actually decided to get the Droid Incredible as I think its a better phone. I just wish it had that Hummingbird processor or a OMAP and a Gorilla screen.

What do you guys think is better Hummingbird or Snapdragon or OMAP?

Ally is an entry level phone. In this case, you get what you pay for. I'd recommend the Incredible, Droid 2, or Droid X. That way you get Froyo and a decent processor. PM me if you need help.

No, not the Fascinate. It's almost up with the big boys, but not just yet. It doesn't have FroYo yet, and it probably won't get Gingerbread. The Galaxy Series, aside from the Nexus S is pretty disappointing.

I have the motorola droid, and it is overall pretty good. I've had occasions where it lags up a little bit, but it doesn't happen too often. It's one of the best phones I've had, not going to lie.

Wondering how high a ZTE Blade/Orange San Francisco (for UKTempers) could be overclocked without getting unstable? Considering it's at a stock setting of 600 Mhz, I don't expect a high overclock.

so saying your already rooted and have setCPU but you want to know the max the Wildfire can overclock while staying stable

i'd say dont go higher than 500Hz faster than the processor normally does, but remember this will drain the battery faster

i'd recommend cyanogenmod if you think you can install it

I got the Droid Incredible. I just rooted it. Its a really nice phone and its so fast.
