Gaming Any way to fix the 1 button?

So one day out of no where my 1 button on my Wii motion plus slowly stopped responding and now it doesn't work all together
the button still pushes in fine, I just don't get a response out of it

so what could be the issue, and what would the solution be (preferably without taking it apart since I don't have the tools for that)

Try some basic stuff first though e.g. add/remote the batteries, resync, etc.

Unfortunately you may need to replace the wiimote if you're unable to even open it, it could be an issue with the contact e.g. worn out.

Unfortunately it doesn't even light up when its not synced to anything
its been like this for a while. Waiting on a replacement, want to save some hassle for when that happens

If you could take it apart you could try cleaning the button contacts and the rubber pieces
It's not very hard to take apart the wii remote but you need the correct screwdriver
