Haemimont Games, the developer of Tropico 3, and Kalypso Media have announced The First Templar, an action-adventure game coming to PC and Xbox 360 in early 2011.

The game has players controlling one of two characters (or both!) -- a French Templar, and noble woman who has been pegged as a heretic. The team works together to uncover the mysterious of the Templars, in the process bringing to light the secrets of the Holy Grail. The game can be played cooperative, or you can go it alone. Co-op will support full drop-in and drop-out; in single-player, you can switch between both characters on the fly, AI taking control over the second character.

Haemimont Games is known for tackling games with historical slants, but this would be its first action title, which is a curious turn for the developer. I hope the game is at E3, because I intend on asking them this: if I'm being told the companion is a woman, why are there no women in these pics? Or does she have a beard? I'm as confused as you guys, here.

From the other pics I can see it will be a good game however it might just fail if it ends up being a copy of most of the other RPG games set in medieval times on consoles.
