Well, I used the 'Grassifier' tool by mistake and it has ruined my town. How can I get the grass back to normal again?
Hello, I'm incredibly new to this (downloaded Homebrew and the save editor just today) and I'm having an issue I'm hoping someone can help me with. When I go to run the save editor from Homebrew, all I get is a screen saying "Missing Target Title" and "The application you are trying to run requested a specific target title. Please make sure you have that title!" All I have is the option to press B to go back to the menu. I have a 3DS XL at version 11.0, and the ACNL game is in the 3DS when I go to run the save editor. Did I install something wrong, or is it a version issue maybe? Or something else entirely?
Thanks in advance for any help!

So I've been reading through this topic, and I haven't quite figured out a solid answer yet. On one hand, several sources say that ram editors won't work after a certain version number...
I just installed homebrew on my 3DS version 11.0.0-33. Not the full homebrew, but enough of it to edit save files and stuff. Can I still use this tool? And the one thing everything seems to agree on is that it cannot be used on New 3DS's, right?
Yeah, basically. I didn't downgrade my version or anything.I'm confused - do you mean you installed Homebrew, but not any form of custom firmware? either way - if you are able to dump your save, then you are able to edit the save with this editor

All right, thanks! I stopped playing this game ages ago because my perfectionism and the game's mechanics ruined everything. With this tool, I might be able to satisfy my perfectionism and play the game again. (And then use Action Replay to make backups in case some jerk decides to move out of my town. :| )
I feel you - Animal Crossing can be cruel like that. with this tool you can "unbox" villagers on the day they are in boxes to prevent them from moving away, though. they will never leave you again
Now to get a physical copy of the game since my last one was a digital copy on my old 3DS.
The only reason they're saying that you can't hack the N3DS is because the N3DS can't use LeafTools... Which requires the O3DS's browser. There are better options now but if I'm not mistaken their was a way to install the Old 3DS's browser upon a N3DSI don't know why people keep saying you can't hack on a New 3DS. Must be from old info, cause I can hack on mine just fine. Also, you can hack a digital copy same as a cart (unless you're using Powersaves). I have both, and hack both towns, though you have to be careful you know which town you're dumping and injecting to, so you don't mix them up. One advantage to a cart is you can use a hackable DS to dump and inject if your main one can't be hacked due to an update.
Also, Nintendo just announced they're dropping the price for ACNL from 29.99 to 19.99 at the end of August, so might be a good idea to wait to pick up another copy.
From what I heard, New Leaf is worse than the ones before.
And REALLY?! Oh my gosh that is freaking awesome!! That is the single most epic thing I've heard all day. Now to get a physical copy of the game since my last one was a digital copy on my old 3DS.
My digital copy is on the 3DS that isn't hacked. Good to know, though!I actually have a digital copy and a physical. It works the same for both
Okay, so I managed to get homebrew onto the 3DS that has NL on it, used the jk-somethingthatIcan'tremember app to extract my save data, but the save editor won't load my garden.dat. Did I do something wrong? Is there a newer version of this program that's not in the original post? The OP says that ram editing can't be done on 11.0.0 but other posts in this topic seem to imply that you can use the save editor. I'm not sure which to believe.
Offline one. I found a link to it somewhere. I thought it was in the first post but I guess not. Must have found it in another topic, or somewhere in this one.Are you using the web NLSE or the offline one?

Okay, thanks. I was under the impression that the website variant didn't work. Looks like it does.If you can get your garden.dat from the game, then you should be able to hack it. I hack all the time, and I'm on version 11. People just forget to update the list of working firmware when an update comes out.
There are two different save editors, made by two different people. They get confused a lot, since they have similar names. This thread is for the web browser based "AC:NL Save Editor" by marc_max which is located on his site. The other editor is a downloadable program known as "NLSE" by Kaphotics and is located on Github. I prefer Marc's editor because I had some issues with NLSE. I seem to recall having the same problem you did, and I think I solved it by putting my garden.dat into a folder, then dragging the folder instead of the file.

I couldn't get NLSE to load even by putting the garden.dat into a folder, so meh. I got the website variant to load, but can it reset villagers? If I boot up my game right now, Kid Cat will move out. It's why I haven't touched the game in AGES. (And I don't remember the last time I booted it up before he moved.)
