I've seen people getting shed loads of bells through turnips, by having friends thus increasing the chance of a high buy price in one of their towns...do you guys do this? What are your opinions on it?

for the bestbuy thing.

1. Change your routers name/SSID to: BestBuy
2. Don't use any protection on the router.
3. Delete or rename your already saved connection in settings so the 3DS doesn't try to connect to them instead. (you don't have your home network at bestbuy? )
4. Just go home and check if a nintendo zone thing pop up.

I can't check this myself since it only works on american machines.

I'm not talking about turning off the firewall. Only password to connect to the router.
The only thing that can happend when doing that is that your sweet neighbourhood might use your connection.
After you are done with the testing and possibly downloading the DLC you can just return your router settings like it was from start.
