Angry Birds Trilogy (360, PS3, 3DS) sold well, coming to Wii and Wii-U

The news comes along with the announcement that the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Nintendo 3DS versions have sold more than one million units worldwide.

All I can say is: God damnit, why? Angry birds is a steaming hunk of , and the Trilogy version is freaking $40 on the PS3 and 360. I understand there is a need for casual games, but Angry Birds to true gamers is like Apple to true computer-savvy people. If you don't get that reference, you're probably an Angry Birds or Apple fan.

In fact, as of a couple months ago, Angry Birds Trilogy was the third-party 3DS game in North America that sold the most.


And it was priced at $40 retail.

How the heck anyone in their right mind would buy such an obscenely overpriced "game" is beyond me.
I would be surprised, if not for the fact that even worse "social games" are getting more popular, like that .. 39$ thing called "final fantasy all the bravest".
Worse, it sets the greed expectations of the corrupt "big names" even higher.

Yea, you didn't read it. If you're going to bitch about something, at least make sure you're not falsly assuming. I did not ever say casual games suck, and never would. There are plenty of casual games I like.

I just don't get the hate for Angry Birds. They're decent, harmless time wasters, nothing more, nothing less. It's popular, sure, but is that really a good reason to despise them?

On topic, I think this is a pretty good counterargument against the notion that games are too expensive for consumers. If people are willing to spend $40 or so bucks on a collection of three free games, then adding an extra $20 for full fledged gaming experiences is hardly much of a stretch.

I don't hate the game as much as the hype and who falls prey to it, mainly the people who just like it because everyone else does, That said I also have a problem with pointless time wasting.
I feel bad for kids who grow up with this as the game they liked most as I feel anything you spend time on should have something to take from it, and Angry Birds definitely lacks substance.

I'm actually interested in the 3DS version because I flash custom ROMs on my phone a lot, always losing my save data (and restoring backed up data is usually glitchy in that regard). But the $30 pricetag is a bit much for the 3DS version, so I don't intend to buy it anytime soon.

Games like pac-man, tetris, bomberman are also casual and basic games which rarely change their formula and have been sold for high prices in many platforms and yet no one seems to be bored about it. I don't like Angry Birds, I think it's a very silly game but if people like it what can I do?
