For those who don't know what a catch-all account is, it's an email account that accepts mail from [anyaddress]@givendomain.com if there isn't an existing mailbox specifically for that address.

Obviously, as it's just a standard mailbox, all mail clients 'support' such accounts. But what I'm looking for is one with intelligent support...

Example scenario:

I have an email account with the address [email protected], which is set up as a catch-all account, so all email for [anyaddress]@givendomain.com will be delivered to [email protected].

So, somebody sends an email to [email protected] and it is delivered to the mailbox [email protected]. My current Android client checks [email protected] mailbox, sees the mail and delivers it. All is fine so far.

However, if I wish to reply to the mail, my current Android mail client(s) will send the address from [email protected]. What I want is for the mail to be sent from the address that it was originally sent to (in this case, [email protected]).

I have Thunderbird set up on my PC, and use the extension "Virtual Identity", which does a very good job of achieving the same thing. But as I am spending less and less time at my desk these days, I'd really like to be able to mimic the behaviour on my Android devices.

For the most part I just set up as many such send from accounts as necessary (for most people in need of such a setup it tends not to be more than about 4 accounts and most hosting I have has unlimited storage and accounts I can make) and have things duplicate via something like http://davmail.sourceforge.net/ or a master PC and a script on whatever client if I am not setting up big boy programs.

I take it a simple replyto is not an option and it then wants to be... technically it is spoofing the from field but as you own the domain and server and the address should receive things (and thus not flag the more active spam filters) it is not what most would consider spoofing.

Afraid I have not been very helpful here, I am mainly replying as I might also like to see this work and want to say thinks for the extension. I could find it useful in the future.

Yea I don't really want to be setting up a new account for every email address, as I use a different one for every site I sign up to, in case one gets compromised by a spammer.

There are open source mail clients out there and I've had a look at adding the feature into one of those, but it's time consuming so I'd rather find a pre built (and tested) solution if possible

@AncientBoi, Yeah, believe you can do PSP games as well. But a Pi5 is much powerful in comparison.

Not sure about other models of Pi4 but the Pi 4 B with 8GBs OCed to 2Ghz handles PSP really great except like 1 game I found and it is playable it just looks bad lol Motor Storm Arctic something or other.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Other games I can have turned up to like 2X and all kinds of enhancements, Motorstorm hmmm nope 1X and no enhancements lol

I will admit that one does seem more interesting than the usual Ambernic ones, and I already liked those.

    I dread the price point.

This looks like one of their premium models, so... $150 :glare:

    To me that seems reasonable.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I mean since basically all the games are errmmm free lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean yeah sure but the specs are the same as a $50 model, it's just those pesky "quality of life" things driving up the price, like an actually working speaker, or buttons that don't melt, and stuff like that.

I think all in my Pi 4 was well north of 200 bucks 150ish for the Pi 4 the case the fancy cooler, then like 70 for the 500GB MicroSD then like 70 for the Xbox controller. But honestly it's a nice set up I really enjoy and to me was worth every penny. (even bought more controllers for 2 or 4 player games.) hmmm have never played any 2 player games yet :(
  • Veho @ Veho:
Yeah that's what I hate about the RPi, it's supposedly $30 or something but it takes an additional $200 of accessories to actually turn it into a working something.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
yes that's the expensive part lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean sure it's flexible and stuff but so is uremum but it's fiddly.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah a lot of it I consider a hobby, using Batocera I am constantly adjusting the collection adding and removing stuff, scraping the artwork. Haven't even started on some music for the theme... Also way down the road I am considering attempting to do a WiiFlow knock off lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I want everything served on a plate plz ktnx, "work" is too much work for me.
  • Veho @ Veho:
Hmm, with that in mind, maybe a complete out-the-box solution with all the games collected, pacthed and optimized for me would be worth $150

Yeah it's all choice and that's a good thing :)
