Never had an issue on either side. A good cooler goes a long way. Right now I'm swinging AMD. Especially if the 3xxx series Ryzen chips are good enough. Got a 2700x in my System and haven't been disappointed

IDK, I mean again, all my Intel machines have been perfectly stable over the years, I'm comfortable here :P

I'm running Intel i7-6700K, but I put most my money in GTX1080.
No fanboy or anything, I was looking for something fast (for games&work) and this combo ticked the boxes.

That said, AMD's CPUs, especially at the mid-range and lower-end of the spectrum, do tend to offer slightly better value than Intel's chips. Conversely, Intel CPUs have stronger single-core and gaming performance than even AMD's best Threadripper CPUs.

For gaming, goes with intel. However, both are great for different reasons. Go with your flow then.

I'll have to go with AMD. My current PC has a Ryzen 7 1800X, and it performs outstanding in many workloads that I commonly perform, which is amazing for a CPU that is currently (at the time of making this comment) about $220 on Amazon. The fact that I can also potentially upgrade to a 3800X, 3900X or 3950X in the future is also a big bonus, and even if my motherboard does not play well with said CPUs (most likely the 3900X and 3950X, since the VRMs on my motherboard might not be adequate enough to run them smoothly, especially at the 4.7 GHz rated clock the 3950X offers).

I voted Intel a few months ago but I think now (and possibly for at least the next year or so) the recommendation is AMD all the way.

Unless, they lied about Ryzen 3000 performance but I have a feeling it's going to be legit.

Having said that, for high res gaming it's all about the GPU and we've yet to see how that will play out when Intel enters the market.

Wouldn't it be weird if at some point the sweet spot is a system with an AMD processor and Intel graphics card

@Xdqwerty No you heard wrong, and don't believe till you experience yourself. Fallout 4 is one of my favorite games of all time. Yes it had issues early on, esp with older hardware like the xbox1, but it is awesome, esp now being 4k on Series S/X or PS5

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Yea you right there, fallout 76 was a letdown, but it not that bad now, they have fixed slot of issues they had at launch. Biggest issue with Fallout 76 is its a pay to advance further type of game, which sucks
