You may or may not remember my thread with Youtube/Google buying Twitch right? Well things changed a lot since then, because as of today, 25th of August 2014, Twitch belongs to Amazon.
Yep, you heard it right, Twitch was bought out by Amazon for $1 billion (?) $970 million.
So what do you guys think? Was this a good deal or not?
Personally, I think that it's miles better than a Google purchase! :D

Update

Amazon bought Twitch for $970 million on Monday, a surprise acquisition after the rumor that Google was pursuing Twitch for a similar sum. It’s tough to predict how the purchase will change how we broadcast and spectate PC games, or how Amazon will fold the world’s biggest livestreaming service into its existing media and referral services. But to expect Amazon’s acquisition to have no impact on Twitch is unrealistic.

“We’re keeping most everything the same,” Twitch’s CEO Emmett Shear writes in a post announcing the sale of his company. In a separate press release, Shear says that Amazon ownership will allow it to “create tools and services faster than we could have independently.” As users and casters ourselves on Twitch, here’s a wish list (an Amazon Wish List, perhaps) of the new features we’re interested in seeing and the aspects of Twitch we’d like to remain in tact.
Now it's official. Many more infos in the source link. :)

I just edited them to a bit smaller sizes and made them transparent background, but all the other credit goes to them. :)
Go and give them a follow, if you like their art. ;)

Honestly it's probably best that Amazon did. I know Google has a bad rep for ruining certain things, so you know.. couldn't be worse. Plus I don't actually have anything bad to say about Amazon.

Really? I had not heard that, beyond the usual whining about youtube (to which my response is "see all that nice high quality, high resolution, long playback... content vs the old days of the exact opposite."?), and having just had a quick snout through a list of their mergers and acquisitions I am not seeing anything they really drove into the ground. Compared to MS in the prime and facebook these last few years google do things well.

As for this I am ignoring twitch until something better comes along, much like I am ignoring several other websites and thusly being something of a luddite.

Half-Life 3: Confirmed.

Offtopic:
Half-Life 3 is shit. HL1 was garbage. HL2 was "better" in terms of technological breakthroughs, but still complete shit. EP1 and EP2 = Recycled content
and HL3 is just awful. Just look at the demo that was released a while back!

OnTopic

I wonder if this means Amazon will send updates to FireTV to integrate twitch.
;0;'

Gotta agree that the only thing I see people complain about with Google is Youtube, and even then it's not as bad as it seems. But yeah, as long as Amazon lets Twitch be Twitch then I won't complain. Not that I'm a frequent user/viewer or anything, but I have been using it to follow Konami's stream in hopes of supporting the revival of the Suikoden series.
