So I have 4 Switches that I use regularly. One of them is used exclusively with a Pro Controller as it's only used for docked play, three are handheld only and I use 1 Pro Controller and 3 pairs of normal Joy-Con sticks between them [two are Lites].

Here's my total playtime from a mix of NX-Activity-Log data and profile page stats:

Pro Controller: >3000 hours

Joy-Cons: >1800 hours

Lite 1: >1300 hours

Lite 2: >950 hours - though I should probably exclude this as it's really only used for visual novels which usually require an input once every 30 minutes.

I've experienced no drift on any of these, apart from one time when I dropped my Lite a few years back and the right stick started drifting [this was fixed with a restart].

So am I just really lucky or is it something else? I don't really clean my Switches tbh and usually just chuck them in a drawer when I'm done if that matters - nothing I'd call "good care". I've also never used the D-pad except when I'm forced to, because it sucks ass. Most of the games I play that require heavy stick use are 2D platformers, MK8DX, ACNH, and other 3D games.

I have friends who got drift on their Switch after just a few months, which makes this all the more confusing to me.

It's luck. After buying third pair of joycons three years ago I didn't catch drifting. First pair catched after two years, second pair within three months

how your play style? do you press heavy on the sticks too much? do you move them fast when you play?

To add to these questions, how were you keeping them? I heard dust is a common factor for drifting outside of damage incurred from play.

I wouldn't say I'm too gentle with them, I do press hard when needed and they see a lot of abuse when I play MK8DX and SMBW [+ other platformers].

Pro Controller is always out in the open, by my TV. Switch with Joy-Cons is in a drawer when not being used, Lite 1 is always on my desk, Lite 2 is in a drawer.
