Hardware Am I covered or screwed???

I dropped my n3dsxl and the bottom back plate broke off... am I covered by the year warranty or am I screwed? I got my 3ds on april 15th 2015...

What do you mean by broke off? Mine pops off, and you can just snap it back on.

The warranty only covers things like defects in manufacturing. Accidental damage is excluded from coverage. But if it's only the battery cover that's damaged, you can actually buy a replacement battery cover from Nintendo directly or on eBay.

warranty does not cover accidental damage but at least its still playable
I knew someone who had the top screen broken because the 3ds fell and he had to pay 80 pounds to them to fix it but you could just replace the cover yorself since its not major damage

Cant you just unscrew the screws that got left behind and just buy a new backplate or did the 3DS's screw slots get stripped?
