Hacking Almost there, but need your help.

First of all i'd like to say thank you for a brilliant forum...ur work is always appreciated.

Okay, this is my 1st post, so please be gentle. Last night, i decided to softmod the wii using Dogeggs's softmod guide and also managed to upgrade my wii firmware from 3.3E to 4.1E. With loads of help from a great friend (from another forum), I have managed to do everything, except the bit where you load Priiloader, but my friend said that instead of using Priiloader, that i should use Start Patch, because it can block game and online updates.

My only problem is that last night just as i was about to install Start Patch, i had to stop as i had to goto hospital because my daughter got injured. My friend isn't around for a few more days, so i'm hoping someone from this forum can help me.

1. Now could anyone pls guide me to install and use Start Patch? Also is this better than Priiloader?

2. Also i want to be able to play games from external HDD, so how would i go about doing that?

3. Lastly someone mentioned that i even though i've managed to update to 4.1, that i must use 4.2 update, otherwise i can't play some games...is this true? The reason i don't want to update to 4.2, is because it blocks the usb hdd option and i would like to have that eventually.

Go to Wiibrew.org for details on Priiloader/Startpatch. 4.2 doesn't block USB hdd 'option' but it does delete HBC (HAXX version). Go to the stickies my friend and you will find everything you need for softmodding a 4.2x console

Maybe start with GX/Wiiflow as an embedded channel to get used to the feel of things and then maybe go on to configurable?

sorry for my ignorance, but now i'm even more confused. I did look into 4.2 hack, but messie's guide stated:-

"Waninkoko's 4.2 SAFE updater is already out here, but it is not recommended that you update to 4.2 anyway. An online update will remove any cios you had on the wii!! You will lose the ability to play backups and load through usb! this is only for those who are already on 4.2."


Let me tell you what i want from the wii to be able to do:-

1. LOAD GAMES FROM USB HDD
2. MUST BE ABLE TO PLAY ALL NEW GAMES
3. MUST BE ABLE TO PLAY ONLINE AGAINST OTHERS, BUT NINTENDO MUST NOT BE ABLE TO BLOCK IT OR TRACK IT

Are you telling me that ALL the above can be done even with 4.2 update?

Also what is the advantages/disadvantages of using priiloader vs start patch?

Can someone just help me with this via msn or private msgs?
