Hacking akSHELL 2.10

well, i have downloaded the files (AKAIO_FONT_CONVERTER)
and i thought is it possible that we can edit the *.bat file inside the AKAIO font converter; from:

otf2bdf.exe -p 10 -r 72 -o %1.bdf %1
bdftopcf -p1 -l -L %1.bdf -o %1.pcf
delete %1.bdf
pause
to this:

any thoughts? also don't forget to add the MOONSHELL's font data (*.ctf, *.glf, *.glw) in the same folder where you put the modified akaio font converter bat files....

Does it actually work ???

OK I'm no expert but I've actually been looking at the 'font' problem trying to determine exactly what's what, & so far come up with this
  • CTF fonts are Vector fonts (similar to TTF fonts - also known as OTF)
    BDF are Bitmap fonts (Similar to FON fonts)
    PCF fonts are also Bitmap Fonts (just a different type)
    GLF and GLW fonts - Unknown (there is a GLF font format but it's something to do with OpenGL)
So perhaps am I guessing that what trying to be done is with Moonshell fonts is convert a Bitmap (AKAIO *.pcf) font into a moonshell Vector (*.ctf) font ??

If so then what we need is a 'pcf2ctf' converter (or perhaps a pcf2bdf/bdf2ttf combo)

Yes the beta is out. I'm guessing all of the beta testers already have the .skn file as well as at least two of the wallpapers (the third one was a dead link somehow).
If I remember correctly though, Env is in the same position as I am (unless that .skn decompiler thing works for Env's computer...it hasn't worked on any of the computers that I have tested it on...I'm thinking of finding someone with Windows7 and testing it, since someone said they got it to work like that) in which having the .skn file isn't exactly helpful in any way since from some form of bad luck or another, our DS/DSis have been put out of commission, thus we can't really test the .skn file (although we could test the source files xD...well, most of the stuff in the source files, since I haven't exactly finished my previewer, though atm I'm stuck trying to find a way to make the screensaver follow the computer time without locking the program up).

As a quick afterthought, after taking a quick glance at the original moonshell1.71+4 (Xenon++'s since I wanted to see what was in it), I think it is very possible that the original fonts for moonshell2 could be in the .glf files since those are the only font files that ms1 uses. I believe the .ctf files may be used for only the text viewer, though I could be dead wrong.
 
@jurrasicplayer: Nope, .skn decompiler doesn't work for me too, and I have win7, but I really like your previewer and used it a lot

And yeah, our DSes is in the state of "Epic Fail" so I don't know how to work with the beta, sorry.

Hm...that .skn decompiler seems very conditional xD. Thanks for liking my previewer (the information thing says 55/106 visitors have downloaded it, so I'm hoping we will see more .skns, and possibly you might end up with rivals in your graphical expertise xD?)
About the posting screenies, I think it would be better posting them in a PM or the suchlike, in case something really needs to be changed, although I guess its always possible to say "These screenshots DO NOT in any way represent the final product of this project." and then post up the screenshots.

@screenies: Yeah I know that, meant it in a private way sorry (can't really test the beta, so I'm hungry for it now XD) so any bug reports would be nice ^^
