Hacking AKRPG contact problems

Well the health and safety screen freezes up upon start-up when I have the RPG inserted. .

Its my friend RPG and he took off the sticker and broke 2 clips off the shell, the one on the top and one on the bottom left.

I can access the NAND if that helps...

My CycloDS and retail games work well still.

Any help on any ways to fix the RPG will be greatly appreciated.

I've tried it without the sticker since the sticker isn't entirely flat it might be pushing the contacts away but no luck there.

I guess I'll try requesting a replacement shell from acekard if possible.

this is hard to comment on with out a picture of the current state of the kit. with the broken clips is the plastic lifting apart? it could very well be that the case is not holding the pcb where it should be and you are getting contact errors. you could try a very small amount of super glue, put it on with a swab of some kind so you don't get glue on the pcb. you could try the old paper behind the pcb trick. no amount of taking out and reinserting fixes it? anytime my kits freeze up at the H&S screen its a contact issue. since the rpg firmware is on the nand it boots that first. if the nand has has no errors to report -- it is probably a contact issue.

I was getting the same freezing problem (for me, it seemed to only happen when rebooting, never the first time I turned the system on).

I had taken the label off when I first got the card. After learning that freezing like that is caused by a bad connection, I put the sticker back on and haven't had any freezing since.

Well the sticker is in a really bad condition, and can someone explain how to do the "paper trick" correctly cause last time I tried I had a very hard time removing the RPG.

Ill post some pictures of the condition of the kit and sticker soon.

you want to fold a small wedge of paper, maybe 1-2 fold in half. place the paper behind the pcb so that the contacts are pushed up ever-so-slighty.

have you tried simply reformatting the nand and replacing the menu files, you could have created a fat error while turning off the ds while rpg is reading/writing

I think we've settled its got to do with the contacts.

the rpg isnt known to have contact problems, tho the way that ones been treated i wouldnt be surprised in chiplegs got disconnected

I've sent a e-mail to them requesting a new shell and I got a reply back requesting a shipping address

Hope the new shell will fix the problems with the contacts.

Just received my package from them, I was surprised that they sent it via EMS and I was even more shocked when I opened it and found a brand new acekard RPG instead of the shell that I requested.

I'll be giving the new RPG back to my friend tomorrow and I can keep the broken RPG.

Now could you guys help me fix it? It'll be nice to have a spare RPG around if for any reason my CycloDS isn't working. I'll be open to any sort of solution.

you need new shell, lol. thats what we all agree'ed on. i can't see how to fix the broken one until you put it in a new shell to debug if thats the problem.

if it was me.. my friend gave me the ak rpg and it was broken. i wrote the e-mail, i got the replacement, i would be keeping the rpg.

But then again the RPG would just be laying around not being used much I only have 1 DS

i keep different msd cards with different things on them for each of my slot 1 kits. one has just dpg movies on it, another has 100 dsdoom iwads, another has just neogeods on it, etc. its sometimes fun to have more than 1 flash kit =).
