I was recently given a Black European Wii U by a friend. He knows I was into modding and hacking consoles years ago so he thinks I might be able to fix it. If I can, it's mine. At first glance it appears unmodded but going into the Health and Safety app, as well as a few other system apps brings up error code 160-0103, so there's something wrong.

He said that he tried to mod it and couldn't get it to fully work so he reset it halfway through modding it before he got it fully fixed. This is why I assume there are issues with the Health and Safety app. Thankfully he made a full backup through nanddumper. , SLC, slccmpt, mlc in multiple parts, OTP and seeprom.

I have a pi zero 2 w and a Steam Deck which I read in a guide that might be helpful. I haven't any soldering skills whatsoever but if push come to shove I could give it a shot. But I'd rather not if possible. Anything I could do to get it back to normal? As far as I know ithe Wii U was working normally for quite a while before he decided to mod it. I don't think the EMMC chips are dying, at least I hope they aren't. I think it's because he reset the console after he couldn't get the mod working properly for himself.

Is there a way to use the minute menu or any other program to restore the complete nand backup that I have stored to at least see what state the Wii U was in before he messed around with it. I can load the exploit page through the web browser and can get to the nanddumper and minute menu there.. Any way to restore the backup through here?

Install ISFShax, dump thesys crash logs in minute (in the dump and restore menu) and share them here. Then we can see if it is caused by a bad eMMC or something else. But I guess it's the eMMC.

There is not much point of using a backup here, as the MLC could just be rebuild. But if the eMMC is bad, you would want to use redNAND instead anyway.

I installed ISFShax and managed to install redNAND as well. I surprised myself to be honest as it seemed to mostly work.. I've seemed to have a bit of trouble with some of the homebrew running on the vWii but that could just be down to my cios installations. Would Nand Aid , De Fuse or Paid the Break be better alternatives going forward or would I be ok sticking with redNAND. I will upload the crash logs as soon as I can. Cheers...
