i was surprised that my r4 ultra was even running heartgold and with cheats
but i was happy i got my ak2i and now i can get all these event pokemons and stuff but its freezing

i was playing heartgold and the same thing happened
the guy in violet city that trades a onix for a bellsprout, i talked to him even though i didn;t have a bellsprout (just to piss him off), and when i was going to the screen that shows all my pokemon and i have to choose the bellsprout, the 2 seconds of black screen became a free. i restarted and talked to him again but it didn't freeze. then i continued on and when i was entering the tower north of violet city, the 2 seconds of black screen when loading became a freeze.

why is it freezing?

im not hacking like a maniac
i just have a speed hack on to enhance my gameplay and i though the ak2i was the the best card out there for compatibility of roms and cheats, 4 days with it and already have a problem

I linked to what DMA mode does, how it works, and how to change it in my post. Go back and read it again please, and carefully this time. Also, turn off ALL your cheats and see if it fixes anything (TURN THEM ALL OFF).

To the OP, is your rom patched? (1.5.1 can't run it clean, afaik, so if it's working on it, it must be patched). If it is patched, try running a clean one on 1.7.

How'd you figure that?
If it's not patched then it shouldn't work on his Ultra at all. It's working on his Ultra, so it must be patched.
You could also try running the older version of AKAIO on your AK2i and see whether you still have problems.

Because if it's patched he wouldn't be having all the AP problems. For all we know the Ultra got an update, or he's unknowingly using AKAIO 1.5.1 on his Ultra.

Either way it more or less sounds like he just needs to change his DMA mode (something people have suggested multiple times, I even linked to how to do it).

@OP: Glad you upgraded to an Acekard 2i instead of sticking with an R4 Ultra. Hate those things. Anyway, try starting the game over. Backup your save, delete it off your MicroSD, and run the ROM play though for a while with no heavy cheats (just increased text speed is fine) and if you don't get any freezes then just migrate your NON-hacked Pokemon from your old save to your new one via PokeSav and be on your merry way(:

yea but im having freezing problems all over not just gts
i put the view camera codes off (hardcore cheats) and that extended the freezing time
it still freezes

i dont get why its freezing
akaio 1.7 should have fixed all cheats and hg/ss games

ty was getting tired of r4 ultra, but 3 days with ak2i and problems

ill try your way after im done testing deltaburnt's advice but changing dma modes

i dont really understand dma modes much
you change dma modes when loading a game and it says LOADING in a colour and ur supposed to press y for normal dma or hold a for non-dma mode
i tired changing dma modes but when it was loading it was in yellow and when i tired pressing y or held a nothing happened it just kept loading and no change in colour and the game loaded???

can someone tell me whats happening

Downgrading may fix it, but that's not a good solution to the problem. If it really doesn't work on 1.7 and it does on 1.6 than the AKAIO team should be informed of the bug.

Furthermore if he downgrades he won't be able to use new load updates.

@kiafazool: Basically whenever you see the loading screen you can choose between 3 different DMA modes. Changing between these sometimes help fix things. So first whenever you see the loading screen try holding X until it changes colors, then see if it fixes it. If that doesn't fix it, run it again but hold A during the loading screen and wait until it changes colors. Then see if it's fixed.

As soon as you press (A) to launch the game hold down (A) or (X).

on quicksave dma (green) mode it froze when entering my first pokemon battle so that doesn't work
on the dma new (yellow) i already know it doesn't work because i was playing it on the from the start
on dma new (red) still playing the game------will post if it freezes

the game loads fine uptil i get to the menu where you select to go in game,go to pokewalker,access mystery gift etc
that menu is frozen
the red dma mode is the only mode that works for me without freezing
the other modes work but if i have a button press when entering a battle or a room/house/building it freezes

It's known that on some Acekard's there may be a couple freezes with HeartGold. It was either the Acekard losing contact with the DS, or it's that the AP fix for HGSS was a little rushed.

If you want it completely fixed you can use rudolph's patch.
