The DSTwo is the only one that's never needed any hardware updates.

If an AK2i was enough in terms of features then go for an R4i Gold and save yourself some money.

The R4i Gold has had to put out multiple hardware revisions in order to update, though.
I had four carts (yes, four), and NONE of them were able to handle 3DS 4.4.

OP wants something that doesn't need hardware updates, and the DSTwo is the only cart that has not yet needed one.

The supercard DSTwo was the only card that was made with serious future proofing in mind, it also has the most features out of any card on the market. If you are going to get a new card I would suggest getting a DSTwo

Very reliable, fast shipping (compared to other flashcart companies), cheap prices, accepts paypal (I think), and amazing customer support (they even photograph your order before sending!).
I've ordered many flashcarts from them and never had a problem.

In this case you should buy a R4i Gold. Keep in mind that they still haven't released the patch for the latest 3ds firmware. But it should work if your 3DS is 4.4.0-10 or lower.

You cannot play GBA games etc on R4i Gold.
If you are referring to DS TWO, then yes you can, also real-time save and rarely need for updates to firmware (but tbh, updating with R4i Gold is literally download, click a few buttons, done).

40 dollars really isn't that much for an investment like a dstwo card.
