Now then. Let's skip to the point immediately or, if you DO want to read my story, click the spoiler.

Ah, so you did click the spoiler? Well then, I'm gonna tell you my story.

I played all kinds of games, from Pokémon to Final Fantasy and so on. In some games, you had to obtain/catch/find monsters/cards/characters which would fight for you. Like in Pokémon, you catch Pokémons whom you can train and use to fight in battles.

And that's where the question comes in.

Does anyone know games, in which you have to get monsters/cards/characters which can fight for you in battles and stuff?

I think many people will comment with Pokémon, that's okay. But I don't exactly mean that. I mean: In Yugi-oh, you have cards and do battles with them with strategies etc. In Pokémon that's also the thing, but I want it more strategic. Like with cards.

That's also so in Digimon and Megaman. In Megaman you can upgrade your robot etc. That's very cool to me. In Digimon you also get monsters like in Pokémon, but it's something else. Unexplainable.

So, do not answer with Pokémon, because I already played those etc.

Think about: Digimon, Megaman, Yugi-oh.
Easily said: Getting cards/monsters or something else and having them fight, upgrading them, buying things etc.

Thanks in advance!

I'm having a blast with Culdcept. It's stuck in the middle between Yu-Gi-Oh! and Monopoly. A real good translation is almost finished by the guys at the translation forums. Almost 99% of it is translated and full voice chat is supported in WiFi matches.

DQM - Joker is probably my favorite of those type games, but I also had a surprising amount of fun with Fossil Fighters.

Try Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor

edit: also, if you have a gbc emulator, try Dragon Warrior Monsters 2. I had so much fun with that game when I was younger, and still play it occasionally on my psp.

Sweet, thank y'all for the fast replies

I'm sure to get Fossil Fighters. But, I've got a question about that Dragon Quest game; Is it a kind of newest version of the franchise? If not, what is the newest one? And, what is the best DQ game?

the Joker's game, as well as all the DQ: Monsters, are not technically DQ games. It's like a DQ Pokémon-ish spin-off. DQ is in essence an RPG franchisse, more in the line of Final Fantasy, but with a more focused scope in the medieval-ish era. Japan's government strictly forbirded ENIX studios to realease any DQ game in school days, because kids would skip school to play it.

DQ 2 (for GB color) was real good, as well as DQ5 for SNES and DQ7 for PS1. DQ4 is also good and has a nice remake for the DS.

Woah, forbidden because they'd skip school? Aw mah gawd.. I would at least skip school for a week to play

Final Fantasy.. Aah! I know, there are many FF games for the DS but does someone perhaps know which one is the coolest? Greatest? Awesome-est?

coolest and most awesome ff on ds? then i would say FF4, mainly because i am a fan of 4, and i feel that ff4 is more rich in depths of stuff to do,storyline as well , ff3 on the other hand feels pretty short, not much sidequests.

Cool. I already have FF4 and I also think it's a great game.. But, there are so many Final Fantasy that I don't know if there are any cooler Final Fantasy games

Thanks anyway. I am just looking for a game in which you can upgrade things, like robots. And I thought Megaman had the same in it
