If I would like to use this method instead of moding my Wii for ex ample with Wiikey, can I play any Wii backup games without any problems or is it only useful for GC backups and homebrew.

It wouldn't work with wii games. I dont know much about the wii i just know you need a modchip.

The only ways to play Wii backups is to install a chip, or solder a cable to your Wii, then hook it to your PC. The chip is much nicer method.
