Acekard 2i Reported Working on DSi XL

Not only do flashcarts boot on the Japanese DSi XL systems - but it's recently been reported that the Acekard 2i boots and runs perfectly on the European version of the DSi XL systems!

Getting lazy, Nintendo? When the original Nintendo DSi was released, none of the current DS flashcarts available then would even boot on the system.

It's unconfirmed whether or not other current DSi flashcarts work on the European DSi XL systems.

The Nintendo DSi XL system is planned to be released on March 5th in Europe for £179.95.

by the way...the US release of the DSI XL will be retailed at $189.99. After taxes, it will be about the same price as the Wii currently. You may want to think twice before making this handheld a impulse buy

So what's your comments?...are you really surprised that Nintendo didn't implement anymore anti-flashcart technology?

It's because the DSi is still on firmware 1.4

It's been confirmed by a few people on this forum that it works on the japanese one.

I have the DSi LL myself and yes it works because its 1.4 firmware.

but nobody tested the DSi XL, we dont know if it has newer firmware and/or protection on it...

Is there a source for this? Unless it's a warez site or something not allowed to be linked to on GBAtemp, I would like a source to see if this is true or not.

Even then, it's unsurprising. It's a DSi, eXtra Large. It's got the same firmware, I would think.

This is good news, I have an Acekard 2i. I am trying to resist the desire. It would be my luck to buy one of these and nintendo annouce a "DS2" a few months later.

Obviously. The DSi XL is just a bigger DSi.

No firmware was released so why do you think they'll have piracy protection in it. Nintendo should have released a new firmware a few months before the DSi XL production since people are not forced to update.

I personally think it's smart marketing to allow the flashcarts to work on a new system. More units will obviously be sold. They'll probably let them work for 2 months and then release 1.5.

Barely anybody knows about flashcarts.

The few who do won't matter compared to the millions of other naive people who will purchase it.
