Anyone wanna spoonfeed me on this one? I'm very new to the AK2i scene. I just place the DSi update from the zipped file into the root folder of my sd card and run it within akaio? My 3DS isn't updated by the way.

Yes, run it on your DSi itself, and then just follow the prompts and instructions given by the updater.
