Today I finally ditched Vista for XP, but there's one problem. My OS and recovery partitions got switched around--XP is on D and recovery is on C. I guess something got fucked up while I was deleting and formatting partitions. The PC runs fine and programs know to install to D, but it's annoying and I'm wondering if I could run into any issues down the line. Anything I can do besides reformat and reinstall everything? (Ugh...)

Well I solved the problem. In case anyone runs into something similar you're SOL unless you redo the whole process. Don't bother with Partition Magic or similar.

PS. I'm so happy with this downgrade I could seriously cry. Totally worth losing 1GB of RAM

XP is still fine for the time being and has even less of a memory footprint than Windows 7, although if you're gaming, you probably want that extra gig of RAM.

As for the original issue, you should have been able to change the drive letters from inside Windows.
