If I were to mod my Nintendo switch would I be able to play online if I boot into OFW? I've seen people saying you can but I don't believe them.

There is always a risk of getting banned if you go online after using CFW and/or homebrew.
Yes, you can go online in OFW with a modded switch. As long you keep all your homebrew/cheats/mods in the EmuNAND you won't "dirty" your SysNAND.
