Ahhh...no...that was too much for the Hand Writing.
That happened on other "Activities" like "Chatting" (...not that Way you all think of...) during Lessons
or forgetting your Homework.

What is the Problem.....these Pedagogical high quality Methods was quite normal in my Childhood.

I think these "Methods" in earlier Times mostly did not hurt...if they were justified.
Left handed for pretty much everything though i'm ambidextrous to a degree. I play pool with my left hand primarily but can switch to my right for angles my left can't do. Strictly for writing i'm like... can'tbedextrous cuz my handwriting is pretty shit with both hands.
I remember going to a "ghost town" exhibit years ago where they showed a school from the 1800s that also only allowed students to be right handed.
I'd be embarrassed for any schools that still use a policy from back during pioneer days...

For the record the regimented lessons and focus on test taking is largely a hangover either from Prussian military schools of similar vintage or "we need happy factory workers" from a few decades after that.
No particularly good reason either -- it is awfully poor at getting people used to the modern world of work and there are plenty of better methods for either overall quality or getting the most out of everybody.
it's because of the pencil we used (and it's not been a total waste):
this type of writing is some art if you get it done right.
but holding these pencils slightly curved at an other angle would just destroy the paper and spill ink.
it was a defect in design of these pencils (working like that swan feather) that some people hated it.
but there's no other way to get a gothic writing style done proper:

I use both hands for everything other than writing. I used to write with both hands but don’t anymore due to nerve damage in my arms caused by an immune disorder.
Right handed for writing, I’m neatest with that, ambidextrous for basically anything else.
These days though, I don’t do an awful lot of writing by hand. Mostly it’s just jotting down notes for games I’m reviewing, with my trusty fountain pen and Moleskine.
