did you unmount the sd by pressing the select button first?

This is before the guide ever explains or instructs to do that. But I know about it now. I'm currently in "Section IV: Restoring the System" of Part 3. Thanks for asking. I was going to just edit the post to 'nvm', but who knows maybe someone else does the same thing.

So if I have a 3ds with 9.2 sysnand already, and a GW 10.x emunand (with CNinja MSET the only hack applied)
So will just following the guide straight through let me still retain all my emunand cias/game progress saves and still let me use .3ds files off the GW card?
Or do I need to add/remove steps to get this scenario setup?
(I don't mind the emunand becoming the new sysnand or whatever, I just like the extra space for games the GW SD card offers on top of internal .CIA games) :-) Thanks!

Just a quick question since I'm new to this method. I successfully downgraded my New 3DS XL and I'm on the part where you download the ctrtransfer file. Now I downloaded the 734 mb file but it says it's for the o3ds. Is the file universal or what since I don't seem to be able to find the New 3DS one?

Well it says N3DS and O3DS, so you should be good to go

It doesn't quite say that, it says "or" meaning you should have multiple choices, but since there's only one file I'm kinda dubious so I'm asking someone who has done this already.

its not perfectly worded and the file itself seems to refer to old3ds only as well. but its fine, everything is as it should be. just make sure you follow every single step in order and nothing can go wrong.

Yeah, they should remove the o3ds part from the file. But all is good, I managed to install A9LH under an hour whereas with the old method I needed at least 3!

The N3DS never had official 2.1 - they came with 8.1 or 9.0 And 2DS's first came with 6.0

So the file and backup is from the o3ds so maybe it deserves credits and a mention in the filename

It does deserve credit but that part of the guide is poorly written. It should say that the file is universal to all consoles rather than "giving you" multiple choices only to have one file in the download labeled as an O3DS file. The guide is very noob friendly but this part is the most confusing by far since it's very crucial.

It's just common knowledge that the nds and the 2ds didn't have a 2.1 firm, that part of the guide is clear enough.

Just A9LH'd my wifes N3DS under a hour, worked flawlessy. So glad i waited for the guide to update :p
Also, might be just me but
I feel like this thread could use a better title, something like "New Plaitect Guide - Discussion ... bla bla bla"

My N3DS is already at 9.0.0-U and is pretty much stock all I've every used was ninjhax no emu NAND not even a nnid. do I have to do the "downgrade" portion of the guide to 9.2 or can I downgrade to 2.1.0 from 9.0? I need someone whose done this to confirm its okay. thanks :)

That's true, but then again with the old method you had to use New 3DS files to downgrade a New 3DS to 2.1 the same goes for the 2DS and O3DS hence the confusion here since this downgrade method is completely different from the last one. All in all the guide should mention that the file is universal to all consoles and you only have to choose the correct region.

If you have a browser follow this:
https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/Homebrew-Launcher-(Browser)
But skip steps 3, 4 and 5.
Then continue with this part but consider step 4 as "Check the system settings, you should be on 9.0.0".

Go on with the guide.

If you don't have a browser, follow this:
https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/Homebrew-Launcher-(No-Browser)

Agreed. Should at least drop the or's or replace with ||
Bit difficult to rename the files; don't think you can retrospectively rename mega uploads; and renaming the other mirrors would add other confusion.

Previous paragraph does describe what's being done though; sonthere is that

@[^Blark^] You will be better do the CTRNand Transfer process as you need to downgrade from 10.x or it will brick and in the case of New 3DS if you downgrade that way you need to unbrick first in addition, so if you do that you need a Redirection Nand System Format it some times then downgrade it, then unbrick it to finally can be usable. So maybe the CTRNand Transfer will be easier.

When I injected my original hs.app back at the end, the icon still shows FBI, but actually launches the H&S app. How do I get it back to the H&S icon?

i just installed a9hl to my o3ds,but what is a simple solution for .3ds to cia?
i use a9hl and luma, followed the new guide,i did not make a emunand,is it needed anyway?
i thought it could all be done on pc,but that seems not true.
i put the decrypt9wip folder in my 3ds folder, start homebrew launcher, and start decrypt9,but it doesnt start from there.
