Today, i took my Old 3DS XL (EU Version) with OFW 4.5 and Gateway EmuNAND 10.xxx from the shelf and was plannig to update the old EmuNAND to 11.7 - i know, the GW team dosen't support or work on new emuNAND versions, but this is nevertheless possible with certain update-packs. I successfully did it with my US Old 3DS.

But with my EU 3DS XL i couldn't even boot up my GW Card. Somehow it seems i messed up my 3DS. The last thing i remembered was, messing around with TWL.cias (i installed them into GW & System NAND to make Dsi Ware playback possible. It never worked, but as a result of these attemps, i get an error message every time i try to trigger the GW exploit over the profile menu. I then tried to re-install the mset-exploit with the blue card, but starting the blue card also gives me an error message.

I don't know what to exacly to do next... any idea how to get my GW setup running again?

P.S.: I know GW is obsolete, maybe even with an 11.7 EmuNAND... but please stay on-topic. Thanks.

The MSET exploit doesn't work on versions of System Settings different than the ones bundled with 4.x or 6.x (and GW's implementation probably only works with the 4.x one); frankly, there are much better ways of launching GW's CFW (and there have been for years); you should be able to boot launcher.dat with classic browserhax, with which you can also install B9S and a launcher.dat loader

P.S.: I know GW is obsolete, maybe even with an 11.7 EmuNAND...
The fake 11.7 lacks any kernel updates since 11.3 (of course - else GW's CFW wouldn't support it), so there's not much practical difference between 11.2 and 11.7 with 11.2's kernel - and in particular, there are no practical differences between 11.6 and 11.7 when it comes to online (as the friends driver wasn't updated)

You can try the Gateway browserhax link, but it might be no longer operational and it might only work on 9.0-9.2. Open this in your 3DS' browser: http://go.gateway-3ds.com.

If you want to play DSiWare games you will need to use Luma, Gateway is incompatible with them as far as I know. You can have both Gateway and Luma if you install B9S. If you want to do that, let me know and I'll tell you what steps to follow.

If the browserhax link doesn't work, and you don't want to install B9S, I'm afraid you're stuck with no hacks for the foreseeable future.

Thanks for the help!

I could manage to start the GW launcher.dat via GW's browserhax website, and so boot into my 10.xx EMUNAND. I've updated it to fake 11.7 just now.

Thats good news at all, but it dosen't fix my broken SysNAND, who seems to be so messed up, that my installed mset exploit (DS profile settings-hax) causes a crash of the console. Also, i can't reinstall it with the blue GW card, it also leads to an error message. All software titles (who were purchased legally) also won't start anymore (SD card not found message).

Is there a way to repair my SysNAND? I really want an offline method of launching into GW mode. What if the website is shutted down one day?:ohnoes:

  1. Install B9S, following https://3ds.guide/installing-boot9strap-(browser)
  2. Follow https://gbatemp.net/threads/tutorial-using-luma3ds-gateway-on-b9s.431691/ to get Gateway working again

Succsessfully installed B9S.

Now for the 2nd step: The big red warning tells me not to follow the whole procedure when i'am over FW 11.3... i'am on 11.7 now of course...
Dont worry about your sysnand, just dont ever boot it with GW, stay with emunand

I followed the B9S Guide... i don't have an EmuNAND anymore.
mmmm but gateway cannot use sysnand even on frankenfirmware because it doesnt have the protection from updates, are you able to use the gateway or are you full luma?

  1. Make an emuNAND with GodMode9 (see https://3ds.guide/godmode9-usage under formatting cards)
  2. Get the 9.2 CTR transfer file for your device type and region - you'll have to do a Web archive search of the guide
  3. Follow https://3ds.guide/ctrtransfer using that file on your sysNAND
  4. Continue to follow the Gateway guide
This is assuming you're updated using "fake 11.7". If not, downgrade your emuNAND as well (just create the emuNAND after downgrading sysNAND instead of before it). Then update using "fake 11.7" or a Yoshi's Wooly World rom.

Okay.... thank for the details. Will do that...
