Has one been announced? Either way, there's no reason to rely on chains anymore after the release of Black and White and their mind blowing combo breaker.

Which? The fact that they released it on the same console as the fourth generation games? Yeah... it bothered me a bit too. A lot, actually.

Edit: One hasn't been announced yet, no.

What combo breaker?

Gold and Silver were on the gameboy, not the gameboy color.
No, they were on the gameboy color but were playable on the gameboy.

I made a chart with the release dates of the main Pokemon games.

Judging by this, Pokemon Grey (or whatever else the third version may be called) should be coming out in Japan in about a year.

The duration of time between the release of Pokemon Diamond/Pearl and Platinum is 1 year, 11 months, 16 days.
The duration of time between the release of Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire and Emerald is 1 year, 9 months, 26 days.

If the third Pokemon game follows this order, it should come out sometime in 2012 and be revealed later this year.

Do note that I am using Japanese release dates.
The third Pokemon game is probably going to be for the 3DS.

Yeah, I agree with you on that one, I've been thinking that since I heard they were releasing BW on the DS.

If it by any chance does come out on the 3DS. I wonder how they would do the pokemon transfer. Hope they dont do some kind of one way transfer only.. would suck hard.

Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire is the only pokemon left without a remake.

Hopefully they remake them, since IMO it's the second best generation which first is Silver and Gold.

Also Generation Black and White still need a 3rd version?

GF is saving RSE for the 10th anniversary, just like they did with GSC. Just be patient.

.

I dont think there will be any game this september. Probably just rumble and other spinoffs.

Its almost august and we didnt see or hear anything about the third version of B/W.
If it was going to come out in september, we would be flooding with images starting between Janurary-March.

Whatever mainstream game will be out next, will be out either next year. That makes 2013 March release for US/EU.

I think they are, sadly enough, going to break the chain. If they wouldn't, I think they would've announced a new game already.

All I know about a next game is that Super Pokémon Scramble comes (release date TBA) for 3DS, but it's a spin-off.

They have repeated the chain for so many times, I think they'll break it...

Also, 'no plans for a Grey that soon'...

I don't think Gamefreak will be wasting their time on grey, they have a brand new console to work with, although they could and twist B/W up a bit and call it pokemon Grey, but their actual focus right now is on the 3DS and how to develop a new series on that hardware.

Prediction time:

Pokemon Grey 2012 - Japan

Pokemon 6th gen 2013 - Japan

But if Grey is specially remade for 3DS = profits! (possibly?)

Hmm... Later what. Pokemon to come in a hybrid gamecard, works on both DS/3DS..
Just kidding.

Nope, GameFreak creates new series for new handhands, heck they made emerald when the DS was released. When b/w were in development, there was no new console and DS was popular.

They'll make Grey for DS and 6th gen for 3DS, profit either way

That's more logical

That's continuing the chain!

Well, hopefully. Unless the card is 3DS-enhanced, which I hope it won't...
