Hacking A new firm needed?

When I open my R4i 3DS flashcard on my New 2ds XL, it says:
Failed to apply 4 FIRM patch(es).
Do I need another firmware or what?

I know there's a whitelist you can edit somewhere, but I've been out of the 3DS scene since the Switch dropped.
