i know that, but back then my options were to return it for a new system which would have lost me ambassador since it would have been an even exchange old ambassador for new ambassadorless system or to send it in for repair and get updated
and i don't even think you could do a transfer at the time, 2011 it didn't get added in till later FW
It was added in 3.0.0, in December 2011. So you're right.

Yeah it's dust under screen, my first two switches had this problem as well, return it until you get a proper one.
I went to the store and explained my problem. The guy went out the back to speak to his manager. When he returned he said that they can't accept a return and advised me to contact Nintendo. Haven't done this yet.

Idk why this is an issue in 2017.
Probably because Nintendo rushed to push the Switch out since they fucked up so badly with the Wii U. The price of rushing it is a number of defects in the early hardware (joycons disconnecting, the battery going down to 1% after a few mintues, an insanely huge security flaw and shit left under the screen). And Nintendo being the cheap bastards they are refuse to cover defects under warranty if they are not legally obliged to. And when they are legally obliged to they take their fucking time.

That's unfortunate, was it not within the 30 day warranty?... Call Nintendo and ask them to repair it, I've had a plethora of problems with all of their devices so it's nothing new for me, unfortunately Nintendo is just a company with horrible quality control.

They say they will repair it free of charge for 3DS systems, says nothing about the Switch but I don't see why it shouldn't apply to Switch:

I am reviving this thread because I finally pried the screen open and tried to remove the black thing. Whatever it is, it is lodged inside the digitiser. I tried to remove it from the inside, first using a cotton bud soaked in isopropyl alcohol, then with my fingertip; neither worked. Either I live with it or buy a new digitiser

Edit: This is not a dead pixel, as I have stated in the thread already. It is a small piece of a black substance inside the digitiser, not the LCD. Keep this in mind when commenting.

Eh? You cannot just remove or repair a dead pixel!
It is "dead"... no chance to going back to normal. No chance to fix.

Only the two options: live with it - buy a new screen.

I know it sucks, and it sucks even more when you exactly know where it is on the screen. Because it doesnt matter how big your screen will be - you will always see it and it will bother you.
