Heh, you really gonna hate me for this xD

Sorry for getting back on topic this game: SW - Clone Wars - Jedi Alliance.

I already know work on some carts, but I decided to test it in an emulator. Tried No$GBA 2.6a, Desmume 0.9.1 and Ideas 1.029 and all three get black screens at the exact the same point as flashcarts. Intro, menus, saving (creates profile) and music work just fine. I KNOW emus aren't perfect, but freezing exactly at the same point is just weird.

I also realized that, M&L RPG 3 (J) works on desmume ONLY with the piracy bypass cheat ON (with DSATM), otherwise it freezes at the same points as most carts... so emulators work similary as flashcarts.

I also know you said this hasn't a piracy protection, BUT at least, can you check the game and see what *could* be wrong, please? Maybe a cheat can be enabled to bypass whatever is this and go in-game.

I mean, just check the game once and see if something can be done. Not asking this to be done right away, just whenever you have a free time. Most non-working carts won't fix this ever (DSTT, Supercard Lite, EZV, EDGE, R4, and i can go on

Thanks a bunch for the help, and sorry again for bringing this back on topic guys.

Dr Stiles you totally pulled all that shit outta Wikipedia or something.

My parents confiscated my DS because I was playing too much, so won't be coding until at least another week D;

I would like to ask a question about codes. Are you able to create a code that can be turned on at a certain point in the game if a condition is met, then have it remain ON. I've made codes before, but the one I'm trying to create now can only work randomly at best. And when I use an activator code the code I'm trying to make turns on for about a second then everything goes back to normal. Well, suggestions? I wouldn't post if I hadn't already tried everything I could think of... Thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide.

That's kinda sad, poor moo! xD And... I edited last on the Keyhole Surgery page, check the article history xD

what do u mean they don work? when i tried editing the codes in the database, they work for me.

anyway just remove to make it a activate the [tick] next to L/R/A/B/X/Y has been bold

if u wish, i can try and paste a picture here?

edit: nvm i just read it again, err, this is a guide for simple code, so how are u gona use this guide to do something as advanced as key swapping? this isn't a simple pointer code u know..?

edit2: anyway from an AR perspective, this is not possible... u need to know ASM to do this
#1 My original post said 2 things. 1st I said this guide failed to make a simple money code, I followed step-for-step on a certian game, button activators and all and I got nothing. You can try proving me wrong if you want. Take this guide and apply it to POGO Island and make a simple 99,999 Token cheat. I havent been able to pull it off, with button activators or not.
#2 I know for a fact AR codes can be used to not only take away functions, but also give functions to certain buttons. You know Zelda Phantom Hourglass? Know how by itself its touch screen only? Well there are AR codes that let you move Link with the D-Pad and swing his sword using ABXY. So there's no reason why a "Press R to lock Magick Ring" for the new FF game can't be done by AR

err, u do realise that for ninjatown u are just making one code that will work only in that paticular stage? if u want it to work elsewhere u got to make it a pointer

and no.2: it is ASM, if u don know what ASM is? wikipedia is your friend, anyway i asked around: and this was the reply:

button mapping codes aren't new.
but isn't that ASM?
let me have a look
yes its asm
its all done with asm..
THOSE ARE
a SUPER DUPER long one
but its AR?
ok you're not understanding
ness, please explain to me
AR uses some ASM to figure out it's data to hack
no is not AR fatso
is ASM
...
AR codes are a way to manipulate the asm of a game
they can pull addresses, which in this case is how you button map

Hi MADGENIUS_Hojo,

I think you're making the code incorrectly, or the code may be a pointer or something... What exactly is the code you're looking for?

If I recall correctly, with activators, you're meant to hold them down. So if you press the activator, and it only lasts a second, then you're only pressing the button for a second. See if it works when you hold down the activator combination.

Well I am definitely an amateur at code making so it would not surprise me if I am making the code incorrectly. The code I'm trying to make is a max NIN code for Naruto Path of the Ninja 2. If I start the game with just the code on(without an activator or anything else) the game crashes when it starts. If I start it with an activator and then use it when I get to the status screen(holding down the activator button). The code will pop up and work randomly, at best.

That being said the code works. It's just kinda... annoying to say the least with how it'll only work randomly for a second then seem to not work and then seem to work again

I'll post what I have, because I'm positive this code could be perfected. I just don't know if I can perfect it as I am now. From what I could understand from pointer codes it doesn't seem like this would fall into that category. But it doesn't want to work well with a simple activator either.

The code is:

94000130 FFFB0000
1228B92A 000003E7
1228B9AA 000003E7
1228BA2A 000003E7
1228BAAA 000003E7
D2000000 00000000

It's supposed to make the first four people in your party have max NIN by pressing and holding select at the equip tags menu screen. Currently, I've only been able to get this code to work successfully (wthout the activator) on an Emulator, and only if I turn the code on at the menu screen, and then shut it off before going back to the... Overworld map for lack of a better term. It worked fine, no random problem, of course it didn't have the activator either.

I found it while using emucheat, and you can ONLY see the correct address if you stay in the menu screen on the game while searching with emucheat. If you exit the menu, the address is glossed over with other values. I can only guess that the values are there mainly to protect the line of code.

If I don't use the activator, the game crashes on both the actual game cart or on the emulator if you turn the code on before starting the game. And if I go into battle with the code on, the game will freeze. I don't know what will happen if I save the game with it on, I can't save with an emulator.

Please help

dr stiles, u don have quote one long post and just a 1 word response... -_-ll u can just type ur little wow and also combine ur post... instead of double posting which is generally not something that forumers are happy about...

Alright that's odd...
wacko.gif
I used the code again on my emulator(this time without that last line of code), and although I would hold down the activator button the in-game values wouldn't change, I even tried Elixirs other suggestion of saving while holding down the select button, still no changes afterwards.

Now here's the odd thing...

In the debugger I use, it shows that the value changes when I hold down the activator, but it's far from permenant. Instead, the values keep switching from what I want them to be and then back to normal, even though I'm holding the activator button down. It would keep switching back and forth between these values until I stopped holding the button, then it would just stay as the original value.

I never really understood pointer codes, so I don't know if it would help. If Elixir says it doesn't need a pointer code then what does this code need? I've been tinkering with it for a long time now so any more help would be great.
smile.gif

BTW: thanks for trying to help Elixir, and thank you for posting his ideas mrfatso.

no no he thinks it doesn't need pointer, on this point, he is not sure himself and sorry for not being clear on that ;(

well, here's me wishing u all the best on that code of yours
biggrin.gif
hopefully elixir will be forced to post here and help u
biggrin.gif

It's alright mrfatso, I'm just happy that I'm getting help.
biggrin.gif
And thank you, I'll probably need lots of luck with this code.

Whatever I do, nothing seems to be working right with it. Well I guess until Elixir or someone else comes up with an idea I'm back to looking at this topic for more ideas again. *Sigh*

elixir just send me another reply and roughly what he told me was the he checked the cheats in the database and the code that u are making might be wrong since your code starts on 0228xxxx while the codes for the games, each of them starts from 020Dxxxx and technically should be working PERFECTLY
since elixir was the one who made it. and that all the codes from the .dat is range from 020D onwards, no codes starts from 0228xxxx, so in other words, u might have made a mistake somewhere?

heres my wild gues:
If the value keeps changing when u hold the activator, I think I might know the couse
there is an adress somwhere, and that adress writes the "normal" value to the adress we 're hijacking
now this means there is NO WAY of writing to THAT adress BUT, we can write to the adress that is writing to our hijacked adress.

so to clarify a bit:
A robot is making sandwiches with cheese but u want sandwiches with jellie ^^
now each sandwich the robot makes: u take out the cheese and put jellie on it,
but then the robot takes the sandwich back and puts his cheese on it again (the bastard)

so.. instead of changing the cheese with jellie all the time: we modifie the robot to make sandwiches with jellie!
ohmy.gif

hope this clarifies a bit ^^

Hmm...
huh.gif
I made the code using Emucheate. I checked the codes database, I have even created my own codes before, for this game, and they also start with 020Dxxxx. That's where they store the information on what Tags you have equipped in game. However, I wanted to make this code for the Gamefaqs users seeing as no one was interested in a tags modifier code.
rolleyes.gif
Anyways as far as I can tell there's no data on the NIN stat that's held on 020Dxxxx, unless Emucheate is skipping it for some reason
unsure.gif

I searched for a long while using Emucheat and yet I was never able to find anything on the character stats. Until one night not too long ago. I happened to be in the Main Menu to check the stats of my characters and I started doing a search for Naruto's NIN. I got a lot of values just like always, and then I went and leveled him up, like always.

Usually I just remember what his NIN stat was after he gets done leveling up, but this time I forgot what his stat had become so I went back into the Main Menu to check and see what it was. I typed it in the search again, this time and I got 1 match. Well I thought this had to be a coincidence. So I leveled him up again, went back into the Main Menu again to see his stat, typed in the new value again in the search and it came up with the same address.

lecture.gif
I've done this countless times, with different characters, and I know that the only way to get the correct value is to search in Emucheate while you are in the Main Menu of the game itself. If you try to search while you are outside of the Main Menu, it doesn't work. Period.

Polle123 seems to have the right idea of my situation, but I have no idea what address could be making the stat go back to normal. Nor do I know how to even start searching.

If at all possible I would like to make this a code request.
