So Gateway team already released a update for 9.5 on emunand, true, they were dead xD

Kracken : Basically, they said they wanted to inform people they might won't be able to support emunand 9.5 on N3DS, which mean your emunand on N3DS will be stuck at the same firmare your sysnand is.

If your sysnand is 9.0, your emunand will be 9.0. If your sysnand is 9.2, your emunand will be 9.2.

So, you won't be able to access eshop on N3DS emunand, that's what they mean.

Other things wont be a problem (roms, cia, etc...)

If you want to play online games that require update, you'll have to get them as .cia files and install them manually.

If you don't play online, it won't change anything (as you probably never use the eshop then).

I personally don't care about MM, but don't worry, it won't need 9.5, might even not need 9.x as it's probably a game manufactured since long ago (like Pokemon OR/AS).

And no, even if the encryption key would be changed, no, I don't want a Sky3DS personally so pro Sky3ds or pro GW, keep your opinions away from this forum and stop trying to "sell" your stuffs, thanks You know you can still buy games if you like them anyway, right?

It does change one thing. You can't do a system transfer to a N3DS anymore, as that requires you to update.

I never understand the point of a system transfer personally, but that's just my point of view, except retrieving a few saves from eshop games or care about useless things like streetpass, it's pretty useless.

Better start with a fresh OS on a new system.

I apologize but I'm really hoping someone may be able to point me in the right direction as I'm new to the scene here.
I received my Gateway yesterday and was extremely excited to get it set up (missed the 4.x boat a long time ago...).
I went through the downgrade process and after formatting EmuNAND I found 9.5 staring at me and began cursing my existence. SERIOUSLY? Today Nintendo??
Anyway, obviously it was my fault for not checking first and Gateway has been very quick to respond with 3.0.4.
I imagine my question is very noobish, but if I'm currently on SysNAND 4.2 and using Omega 2.7, am I still able to use the new launcher.dat from the 3.0.4 update to fix the multi rom function?
I'm hoping the answer is yes but can anyone confirm this?
I realize this most likely sounds dumb to anyone who's been doing this for awhile, but any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.

I guess i meant in case you have a gateway, you can download the cia of your eshop legit copy and install easily without the need of a system transfer...
Also this "device lock" is so fucking awful, in 2015 you expect purchase to be account wide (like every other platform out there)...

yeah grab 3.0.4 launcher and update your emunand to 9.5. be sure to backup your sysnand and double check before updating

Thank you for the quick reply! I've already made backups of my 7.1 and 4.2 sysnands so there's no issue there. As I've already updated emunand to 9.5 though, do I just use the new launcher and reupdate the emunand or should copying over the new launcher be all that's necessary?
Sorry for needing things spelled out, but I'm still too new to pretend I know exactly what I'm doing. I can follow a guide as well as anyone but haven't had enough hands on time to be really comfortable with it yet.

Guys, calm your tits, when Gateway has no plans of supporting something they clearly say so, take sysNAND 9.3+ for example, if you read their announcement, there is no "in the futre" or "right now", they're clearly saying that they have no plans to support sysNAND 9.3 or higher, on the other hand look at emuNAND 9.5 for N3DS, they're just informing you that the 9.5+ emuNAND will not be ready on release, and might take a while to release, probably has something to do with N3DS stuffs.

Also I'm sure the first releases will as always be betas, so they will probably not even have time to work on emuNAND, and from the looks of it, updating emuNAND on N3DS is much more difficult than 3DS/2DS.

Why must every thread have this GW vs. S3DS garbage?

For those of you that are not up to date:
GW: Old 3DS family works fine with 9.5 as of update 3.0.4. Multirom is working again. N3DS support is confirmed, but not released. It has also been confirmed that N3DS handhelds will not be able to update to 9.5 emuNAND because of a special new encryption in the firmware.
Sky3DS: Go play your games, and stop derailing threads.

No, I say that when you do piracy, you have to be aware that it sometimes mean "lose saves" or things like that. And if you use a gateway, even without a system transfer, you won't be charged again for the games as you'll be able to download them for free.

If you want to be able to do a system transfer, you can still not use pirate flashcards, no one is forced to do so.

Um, wasn't it like that when the Gateway first came out? That there would be no "in the future" or "right now" on their announcements for support on later firmwares and that it only works for 4.1-4.5.

Hello everyone. Long time lurker/leecher of the forums, first time poster. I appreciate any help you fine people can give me.

So anyway, I have purchased a 2DS today and will have it in a couple days. Unfortunately, it will be coming with the last firmware update of 9.5. I have been trying to decide which flash cart to get and was pretty much set on getting a Gateway 3ds. But with this new firmware update, I'm confused as to which one to get. I saw the big argument earlier in the thread, but I need an honest unbiased opinion. I know GW has more features but is it still working with a freshly updated virgin 2DS console? Please help me out here, guys. Thanks.
