My N3DS is currently on version 9.0. I went through the steps to block system updates through the router, but either I didn't so so correctly or the settings haven't kicked in on the router. (It took a while before it started recognizing the 3DS after setting a connection up)

Mario Kart 7 says that it has a game update to apply. It says nothing about the system itself, so I don't think it's a full firmware update. It says it will activate upon starting the game with an active Internet connection. To be on the safe side, I turned off WiFi before playing the game.

I want to know. Is it safe for me to allow MK7 to update itself, or will it attempt to update the console firmware entirely? I haven't updated at all since I want to be able to set up homebrew on it once a Gateway-less method is released. I haven't had an update window pop up or anything, it's just a scrolling message on Mario Kart. Anyways, is it safe or not?

So, did I just do the router-blocking thing wrong and leave something out? I'll have to see if the delete-system-update trick works for game updates.

Game updates are handled by the eshop servers. System updates are on completely different servers. You most likely only blocked the system update servers, and didn't block the eshop servers.

Through other sites that will not be mentioned or linked to, people have threads of updates in the form of .cia files. I suggest you search for the update you want there.

I assume you only blocked these two (Nintendo Update Servers), correct?
Code:
nus.c.shop.nintendowifi.net
nus.cdn.c.shop.nintendowifi.net
You should also have blocked these (they handle eShop stuff):
Code:
ecs.c.shop.nintendowifi.net
cp3s-auth.c.shop.nintendowifi.net
Now, I have no idea if it is still possible to get rid of the 'game update nags', but these are far less annoying than the system update nag anyways.
Still, does anyone know if we can get rid of these nags?

Turn wireless off. (you won't be able to play online anyway unless you update)

I think Game streaming should work like this.... Local Hardware able the run the game fine, game engine and common assets stored locally, all FMV and music and textures could be streaming

Or free government supplied high speed internet be nice also. Like Obama care. Xdqwerty that's cool, its time consuming but rewarding once done or playable, to see what you've made from scratch. Animations take forever, but worth it.

    @BigOnYa,
and the visual aspect of the game is quite crude (the sprite that looks best is that of the protagonist just because he is a stickman with sunglasses)

There is a bullets behaviour you assign to your character, that makes the code easier, under "behaviours"
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
i meant that when the character is pointing to the right, the bullets spawn where they should, but when he is on the right, they move to the right but the spawn point is incorrect
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Itch.io has lots of free assets also. Under the bullets behavior tab, there is a "rotate bullets" option, can try that. Or in the code can try
    - fire bullet Player.X(PlayerDirection)

im taking a break for today anyway

That's cool tho, I'm proud of you going back to it, not giving up. It is difficult at first to learn, but fun once you get the hang of it. I think I've watched every tutorial video there is, but I still struggle sometimes to get stuff to work right. But gotta keep trying dif things, and eventually you will get it right.
