I wasn't complaining, any modder worth their salt already has access to the kexploit and are working on modding infrastructures like Soneek and Dant are for sm4sh. Im in a group with them and a bunch of other sm4sh modders, i just don't have a wiiu at all so i never contacted MN1 and company about it.the point is they have it we dont even if we did get it ..it would take weeks to do anything with it i own the 3 best games on the wii nfsmb splatoon nsmash bros
To explain further, this is sort of a sore topic around here. Hykem had a few release dates planned to try and appease everyone, but eventually led to various circumstances that caused him to delay releases to try and improve what he had.
Eventually all the self-entitled whiners started to harass him endlessly. This provoked him to poke a little fun at the naysayers and he released (most of) some keys related to WiiU. The remaining characters of the keys were easily bruteforced from the community and it proved Hykem knew what he was talking about (those in the know already had no doubt).
Time continued to go by but the harassment reached critical and I think he may have just had a "screw you guys, why should I put up with this stuff when there's more important things in the world" attitude (don't quote me I'm speculating).
For a long time now, Hykem has not updated and given any word publicly about his progress, or whether he still plans to release. Maybe the ugly community forced him back "underground" and maybe he is collaborating with some folks behind the scenes. Until he publicly states using one of his own social accounts or here, take that as the latest.
Smealum posted some incredible proof-of-concepts, including a similar setup to EmuNAND on 3DS, but he has openly stated several times that no one should expect a release anytime soon (if ever).
So in short, nothing of what you're thinking of/looking for has (publicly) progressed or been released.
An excellent thread to keep an eye on, which happens to be stickied:

He is very good at keeping it updated. If something is released, you'll know fairly easily.
Good day, sir.
your right there its nindendos own fault tho what did they expect when there hardware was already dated in 2012In my opinion the wiiu is virtually dead, and the 3ds will go downhill pretty fast. Reason is there's not that many Wiiu's that can't be hacked. There are even fewer 3ds's that can't be hacked. Games sales must be plummeting to almost zero. No developers will support it if there sales go through the floor. That's just my opinion.

There's pretty much no reason to need privilege escalation to kernel for any purpose other than piracy. Don't expect myself or anyone else to be releasing new kernel exploits any time soon.
Tvmc Kofi xbmc.....superb....i just want xmbc on it for the bedroom lol
This is excluding game mods though, right? imo for a thriving scene, homebrew and modding both need to be present. I'd say aside from piracy, modding is next in line for most looked forward to feature of a hacked console.

how the fuck are we going to create mods without the kernel LMAOYes, that is an issue unfortunately. :/ Right now if people want to mod games they can purchase an older console. As a security professional I am under no obligation to disclose any vulnerabilities I find while reverse engineering the system to Nintendo or anyone else. I adhere to responsible disclosure although I don't go disclosing exploits to vendors that do not have a bug bounty or at least some sort of disclosure program. If an vulnerability is patched I will release what I know.
I'm just tired of all these leaches on the scene. I want people to create homebrew and game modding tools (thank you for your contributions btw). This is the reason why I released the first tools to decrypt 3DS NCCH partitions, worked with Comex on IRC to create the first smash file un-packer for 3ds, worked on Wii U home brew and the OSDriver kernel exploit.
Again I gotta agree. Hacks are impossible without the exploit.....how the fuck are we going to create mods without the kernel LMAO
so i make some good custom textures and model imports and how will i even testif they work?
NO kernel release
No hacks release

welpThere are a plethora of consoles with older firmware out there. I only paid about $100 for a used Wii U (Black 32GB) which didn't include the gamepad. Don't have the money? I don't care, not my problem.
Anyways, above anything else it's not worth burning a new exploit for just a few firmware reversions. :/ If nothing else, think about that.

Only problem with that is I don't think there's not gonna be many more (if any) firmware updates. In fact I'm pretty sure the new Zelda will be held back for the new console. It'll hardly sell on the wiiu, and there's pretty few new games on the horizon either. No wiiu definitely dead. Nintendo won't throw any more money at it. In my opinion....
Yeah good point, and I still have a great affection for the old Famicom I must say.....The Wii U will be dead in my eyes when they take the servers offline like they did with the Wii.

Agreed about the raspi 2. Just get that, punch kodi or osmc on it and enjoy, not sure about osmc but kodi even uses hdmi-cec, so you can connect the microusb to your TVs USB-port and for example your WiiUs HDMI cable to it and control the interface with your TV Remote. It seriously doesnt get easier and lazier then that and costs as much as eating 2 good pizzasi just want xmbc on it for the bedroom lol
