A quick question : The keys are released ! Well, what's the next step ? Does it mean, that there would be things like loadiine on 5.5 working for sure in maybe some days / weeks of development / porting time ?
Will there be some release from hykem in the future, or are the keys the only thing that we was waiting for ?

Hykem will release the IOSU very soon. The only thing he has to do now is to obfuscate the files of the exploit. This means to seemingly corrupt them, so it cannot be executed on a PC, and appear to be corrupted. The only way it can be run is via the console.

Also, keys do not mean anything in particular; they are just like regular keys for a door. Once you unlock a door, it opens. So if you had the Starbuck ancast key, and twisted it around, it would open.

Unless the first post is lying, there are actually a couple of homebrews that work at the moment on 5.5. Not necessarily homebrew that facilitates shenanigans, but homebrew nonetheless.
Excuse me; no MAJOR homebrew is compatible with 5.5 yet. Things like TCPGecko and Loadiine require kernel access we don't have, but will get. ;)

Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.

The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite
    for people with beefy hands.
