So in preparation for the upcoming 5.05 kernel exploit i bought a PS4 Pro brand new below 5.05, i found out after i got it that the PS4 needs to activated on PSN in order to use the USB save transfer feature.

My question is, is there any other way of using save wizard on a PS4 that isn't activated? Once the kernel exploit is released, Can i FTP the saves off my console and edit them in save wizard then put them back after? I tried looking this up but i didn't find much.

I'm on mobile right now so I don't have the link handy, but there is a lot of talk right now about a CFW for 5.05. If that's the case then it might be possible CFW would enable that, if it isnt already possible.

I haven't looked at the new "framework" (I've clicked to a couple random commits and they both were fix for typos LOL) but even if they continue to call it CFW it's not going to be what people expect it to be.

IMHO what they are going to release is some infrastructure for installing and running applications without depending to Sony's PKG format and building tools (orbis-pub-gen, orbis-pub-cmd, gengp4 or what are they called) as I think they have mentioned a libc and a linker created/ported from scratch. They are going to modify the behaviour of the firmware to launch these "homebrew" (so the custom in CFW) but it would need to modify a live system because there's not (yet) a way to patch a FW, properly sign a PUP with it and installing it via USB.

Edit: so no, it's not going to magically enable gamesaves manipulation... ^__^;
