Btw, I don't know how significant changes between 4.55 and 5.xx are - do you think there could be some problems with save games? I mean, I still haven't upgraded from 4.05 to 4.55 so I have no idea if I'll get to keep my backup saves or no, but I guess those two fw-s were more similar to each other than 5.55 and 5.xx?

Saves shouldnt be affected.

Only game saves I found were corrupted were the original version of Horizon Zero Dawn 4.55 converted to 4.05 without voices rip.

When I updated from 4.05 to 4.55 they simply didnt work.

Perhaps just a bad example, but ai dont know if other games for 4.55 converted to work on 4.05 will do the same.

Unmodified games should work perfectly from any fw to latest.

I totally forgot about PS2. Yeah, if that's the case then it's worth it for sure as some games are just not playable on regular PS4.

I'm still excited about PS5 though, especially since I'm waiting to jump into the whole VR thing and been forcing myself to wait for the next gen when it will actually be worth it.

Absolutely, that's the sort of situation I dread. In a way, it's a lot easier when one company has a monopoly and you don't have to pick a side. To make matters worse Oculus are supposed to be releasing a new all in one headset for something silly like $199.

yes qwerty himself said kernel get patched in 5.50
and now webkit patched in 5.53
also qwerty said he is not working on 5.50 anytime soon
everything is good for 5.0-5.05 exploit
but maybe there is a reason for not releasing exploit and we do not know about it

Most people I've spoken to said they hardly noticed any difference after upgrading.

i own a pro and reg slim, and i agree to those most ppl regarding the superiority of the pro over the regular ps4.
though here is what i do notice with my pro, i own a 4k tv soooo...
the pro looks somewhat more crisp.. refined?

by.. like 10-20% , most of those non pro games look almost the exact same as on a reg ps4, and also kind of runs the same even with boost mode enabled.
so imo. the pro is kind of waste of money unless you care too much about '4k' gaming, it looks somewhat refined but that is really all.

but maybe there is a reason for not releasing exploit and we do not know about it

they say graphic in god of war 2018 on ps4 pro and ps4 slim is like night and day

edit : id only worry about Monsterhunterworld ,i want the game.

Oh cool, so my current 4.05 saves should be safe when I update to 4.55 and, hopefully, eventually, 5.05.

Actually, based on a couple of comparison vids, the only difference seems to be the resolution. And the Pro isn't even able to keep a steady frame rate in high-res mode and the performance mode seems to have a variable frame rate. So it's kind of a mixed bag. Pro really was a half-assed attempt at a refresh and I think Microsoft did a far better job of it.

Just looked into that "Oculus Go" that is pretty nice, they say it is like Samsung Gear VR, but with built in screen/OS, It's a little dumbed down from the rift/vive experience because of the single controller, and no native forward/backward tracking, but apparently the screen is fantastic with almost no edge blur, or screen door effect.

Thanks for the heads up on that, I will keep an eye out on how it develops for sure.

yep, saw in a video and that's disappointing.
they hinted that the regular ps4 plays GoW at a better frame rate.
oh and honestly huge props to Sony as the game looks almost identical on the regular ps4 from what I've seen, the only difference was that on the pro it looks a little bit sharper

I hope it spurs devs on to find exploits on GOW compatible fw....

SciresM seems to be spurred on by the idea of Pokemon for switch, so similarly PS4 devs need motivation, and GOW is definitely motivation to get it working.... I hope.

No, Devs enjoy games too, and some find exploits to play the games they want to play.

IIRC:
SciresM likes pokemon, so hes hacking switch ready to play anything pokemon.

Chadderz and MrBean35000vr elevated an exploit to mod MK8 wiiu

Perhaps someone PS4 related will want to play GOW, and use this as inscentive to find higher exploits to play this game.

I think a ps4 cfw is unlikely unless sony really screwed up. you may have to settle for exploits. I personally only consider a console jailbroken if it's cfw compatible.

Agreed I think CFW is unlikely for a long time.

"Jailbroken" is such a bad term for this console.

HEN is exactly what it says it is, and if a persistant method is found thats all you need.
