Hacking 3k3y for ps3 slim question?

I read on 3k3y, all ps3 models will not need the drive keys for there product to work, expect for ps3 slim 2001/2100, just wondering, how come only this model needs the drive keys for there item to work.

it is actually explained if you read the whole thing
2001 and 2100 have the dvd motherboard in the drive itself while
other models its on the mainboard and the only thing in the BD drive is a motor and lazer.

Thanks for the info, but i'm wondering, I have a slim cech 2001a, so should I wait for an update or trade my ps3 slim for a fat?
