Hacking 3DS XL DSTWO Problem

Hi, i just bought a 3ds xl and it came on 4.0.0.10u firmware and i haven't updated it. My question is how can i get my dstwo working on this 3ds? i heard im not supposed to update the 3ds untill i get my dtwo working. Ive followed all instructions on the supercard website but with no results all i keep getting is a error has eccured black screen i know its not the card itself because it was working just fine 2 days ago on my freinds dslite. I heard something about if my 3ds is already past a certain firmware i cant update the dstwo with my 3ds? can someone please help me out

Download the update and run it on your friend's DS lite. If your 3DS is updated past your DSTWO version it's already too late to update the DSTWO on that, unless you use the alternate blind update method (not recommended). If you still want to use it, rename the dstwoupdate.dat to dstwoupdateb.dat (IIRC), put it on your MicroSD, and start the DSTWO on your 3DS leaving it on the "error has occurred" screen for a long while, I'm not sure what's the recommended length. 20 minutes should probably do. Make sure it's plugged in the charger too.

why is that method not recommended is there something wrong with the process itself or just because people might not let it fully update?

There's no progress indicator, so you don't know when it's done or not.

Actually it could be a defective card. A while back there were some bad batches that would work fine on DSlite but not so well on 3DS or XL. Contact issues or something. It's possible you got one of those.

Your 3DS firmware is pretty old if it's 4.0.0.10, either that DSTWO hasn't been updated in ages, or you do have contact issues.

With the alternate method, I just let it do it's thing for five minutes, timed. I just go do something else during that time, not a big deal.

I used the alternate method and it worked fine..thanks guys...They should mention something about that on there website.
