While Freeshop can be slow, it's still a lot faster than transferring to the SD card an installing via FBI. Plus, not using the computer at all is great.

True. But we never know if Freeshop could be closed down. Some people freaked out when Nintendo sent a cease & desist letter to the developer.

True, but I like to use it while we can. If it ever goes than, go back to cias, or ciangel.

My point exactly. And as I pointed out, a lot of games are missing.
I never had a problem with missing games, although I already had most of the ones I wanted. The database can take a few days to update, but I think it normally has the important stuff. Also, I would prefer not to talk to much about this.

And regarding your original problem of missing covers, I still don't understand how. Almost all of my cias have boxarts and the database is pretty good. It might be missing new ones, but it's updated by users, so if they still use this and want the boxarts, they have to upload it themselves. When I used this, I added a lot of content to the wiki. Now I don't use it, so I don't add anymore. A user recently edited some stuff in the wiki so it's still getting updates. If for some reason your cias still don't have the art, you really should add them to the wiki, or just add them manually.

True, we're getting off topic.

The odd thing is, they're on the site, but they're just not updating on my end. Maybe if someone was still updating the zip, I could just manually install those missing boxarts.

Hmm, well it seems the zip is still being created. Are the files missing? Do you actually have the art for the games you want? Or are they just not applying? You should uninstall and install the shell every time you update the files.

The zip's not being created, apparently. The one linked to in the OP hasn't been updated since May.

EDIT: I did just uninstall and reinstall the shell extension. Still, same issue. It's really odd, because recent games like Fire Emblem Fates have box art, while other ones, like SMT IV Apocalypse, don't.

What? The latest.7z is from January 5th. Are checking http://no-info.no-ip.info/3ds/database/ ?

How do i make my custom images..it seems that its not working
You add a name.jpg file to the user-boxshot or boxshot folder and a name.txt to the user-info or info folder.
In the info .txt you can put stuff like Title, Region, Date, Rating, etc., but you really only need the Boxshot directing to the correct image and the PID (for .3ds) and/or ProgramID (for .cia).
Something like:
Code:
Boxshot: name.jpg
PID: ABCD
ProgramID: 0004000000160C00

didn't read every post, but this works for cia files as well. my cia files now have a 3ds cart image with some special cia's like fbi having unique images.

It does, it works for cia nad 3ds files

Almost none of my japanese CIA's work with this. I'm on 1.7.1 Windows 10. Tales of the World Reve Unitia for example. Kirby Planet Robobot, SMT 4 final for another couple.

I was about to install this on my computer and was looking for the cover art and it looks like the DB site in the link is down :(

Well, the database is maintained by users. I'm guessing JPN cias aren't as used as other regions, so they might be a bit left out. I personally try to include JPN info when I insert content, but that might not include your games. Also, there will be less info on JPN exclusives.
Again, if you really want it, add it to the database (to help others) or add them manually. Search the thread on how to do that.

Yeah, it seems to be down now! ):
It normally goes up after a while when it goes down, but I can't say for sure. Lets hope!

will there be a version for cia files
This works for cias.
This was literally just answered and it says so in the change log in OP. Reading is nice once in a while :/
