Gaming 3DS Vs Vita-This time its different.

The launch line-up is not bad, but I'm seeing too many people believe that they'll all be launched at launch just because they say so.

Anyway I'm not disappointed with Nintendo, yeah the launch didn't have AAA titles, the advantage of Nintendo you know they'll release a Mario/ zelda or pokemon game for the system.

There are quite a few bad Mario, Zelda, and Pokemon games. Basically all I'm hearing is just brand loyalty. People love to bash "CoD fanboys" for jumping on every game but its basically what a lot of people do with Mario, Zelda, and Pokemon.

The only bad mario and zelda games that come to mind are related to the following quotes.

"Gee, it sure is boring around here." - "Mah boi, this peace is what all true warriors strive for"

"You know what they say. All toasters....toast toast!"

If anyone recognizes these quotes, then you know the games which they come from, but should also know they were not made by Nintendo.

I think Christmas time will be the big "tell" for Nintendo. But if you ask me, Nintendo has lost their way somewhat. All that focus on the casual gamers has left a bad taste in many true gamer's mouths. Take the DS/DSi for example, unless you are a hardcore RPG gamer, there really isn't much on it worth bothering with. Only through sheer number of releases is there the few decent games that a gamer like me is interested in. We all know that there are a few staple franchises just plain MIA on the DS. They focused too hard on the casual gamers and allowed far too much pure shovelware. They forgot the true gamers. They forgot to (and in some cases couldn't) maintain a balance between casual and hardcore.

The Wii, underpowered from the day it hit the market. All the really big games came out on 360 and PS3, but couldn't be done on the Wii because it lacked the power to run them. Mistake. Sure, the Wii sold well with its waggle controller gimmick to the casual crowd, and they had a few first-party hits, but where are Wii sales now? Tanking hard. They turned those casual gamers into something that isn't quite so casual anymore and now they want more, but the Wii can't deliver.

So now we have the 3DS and the upcoming Wii U. Is it any wonder the 3DS isn't selling as well as they had hoped? They alienated all but the casual gamers and the die-hard Ninty fans with the Wii and DS. They're going to have a struggle to win over the true gamers this time around, we won't be fooled again. And they're gonna have to drop that 3DS price if they hope to compete with the Vita. They're also going to have to ramp up focus towards the hardcore gamers and tone down the casual crap and shovelware. Bring things back into balance.

The Wii U.....kind of an unknown at this point. OK, so it will have about the power of 360 or PS3, maybe a little more, but if they don't balance out the casual to hardcore ratio, it's not really going to matter. And just how much is extra Wii U controllers gonna cost? $100? Even more? Yeah, I can just see those controllers getting busted quite often with kids rage-quitting on some game and breaking the screen. The system will just sit and collect dust because the parents can't afford to replace the overpriced controller. How much hi-def shovelware/casual games will the market tolerate?

If Sony doesn't screw this up, I think they have a real shot at beating Nintendo this round, at least in the handheld market. As for the console market, I figure Ninty only has a year, maybe 2 before Sony and MS trump the Wii U and then Ninty will be right back to where they are right now.....tanking on sales.

As everyone says, the games will be the determining factor. Nintendo better wake up. Drop that 3DS price, make the games you KNOW gamer's want, quit focusing on non-gamers and casual gamers so much and remember how you got to be the gaming giants you once were. Die-hard Ninty fans will only take you so far, casual gamers are fickle at best. You need to grab the hardcore market if you really hope to stay on top. You don't need to forget about loyal fans and casuals and your cutesy games, just don't make them your ONLY focus. Balance. That's what Ninty needs, not remakes, shovelware and fluffy-foo-foo. We've had quite enough of that.

Causal, true, hardcore gamer bias thoughts toward Nintendo is junk. Nintendo is what made gaming what it is now.

Almost everyone already got a wii, so saying it tanking for any other reason is crazy talk.

DS = causal? That word for gaming was even around when the ds was out and you calling it causal?
It has bunch good games, what are looking at?

Why is everything they come out with = casual? That completely ridiculous!

The 3ds barely miss their exception.

There are some good games already out and there good games coming out.

Some people are blind by graphics and AAA titles that they don't want to give
the other games a chance.

Unfortunately I didn't have the energy to completely type my thoughts out.

My foot that Nintendo has lost their way.

Gears of war wii u thoughts.

So did Sony and Microsoft.

Heck, if we should be saying that about anybody it should be Magnavox and especially Atari.

Also, what is "Nintendo it junk"?

So how do my fellow tempers feel about the upcoming vita? at $250 I feel that Nintendo is in for a real serious fight that could get nasty if they don't put in more of an effort than they're doing now.

I don't think at any time in gaming history has a competing handheld(with superior tech) has been in the same price range as a Nintendo handheld, the one factor that usually gives Nintendo an edge.

Definitely getting the VITA for sure going to preorder it.

I have to be honest. I was drawn to the 3DS (and eventually bought it) because of the 3D. The 3D seemed a bit gimmicky to me at first, like I'd eventually get tired of it, or that it wouldn't be that impressive, but playing OoT I was surprised to see how well I could perceive depth in it. Plus it was Nintendo; even if I did get tired of the 3D, the system had decent graphics, I had access to my extensive DS library as well as DSi ware and whatever the virtual console comes out with, and even when a Nintendo system is not successful compared to competitors (like the Gamecube), it'll still have enough games on it that I like to satisfy me.

Games on Nintendo titles are more my taste anyway. I grew up with the NES, gameboy, Genesis, and Super NES, and Nintendo systems usually contain more games that appeal to people who prefer classic gaming over more current big things like FPSs, GTA games, and God of War clones.

I had a PSP, but I eventually sold it. There were only a few games that I actually cared to play on it, and when I was done with them, I was done with the system.

The PSP was pretty successful, but not right away. On trains in Japan, I see at least twice as many people playing PSPs than DSs. Most of the people with PSP were males in their teens-early twenties (a lot of high school kids), and a lot of them would travel in groups and play multiplayer games together on the train (everybody loves Monster Hunter here). If I was in high school and my friends had PSPs, I'd get one so I could play with them too. Anyway, with all the PSPs I'm seeing, I can see that plenty of people like it, and those people are more likely to be interested in the Vita.

the 3DSs big drawback is it's not as friendly and approachable as the DS. The DS was a system for everybody, from kids to senior citizens. Dual screens and the ease of use made it appealing. Now it's in 3D and that worries people. It's no longer the friendly little device that you can read a book on, study with, or exercise your memory with. For people who aren't big Nintendo fans, the 3DS falls in a dangerous middle ground of being "too hardcore" for those who don't play games much, and being "too gimmicky" for people who do play a lot of games.

The 3DS did not sell well in Japan at first (I hear it sold really well in the States though). It wasn't until OoT's release that system sales actually rose to the top. This could just be due to a slow start, or people being intimidated by the price, or it could be that people just aren't very interested...

So yeah, I'm very interested in seeing how this plays out. Regardless, I won't get a vita. Even if it totally trounces the 3DS, I'm not the kind of gamer who plays games for the sake of playing anymore. My interests are pretty strongly rooted, and regardless of how popular each system ends up being, I know that there will be more games I want to play on the 3DS

The guys who made Gears of War have made a lot of stuff that's not Gears of War. They kinda made one of the widest used engines in video gaming (Unreal Engine).

EDIT: I also don't watch such shit videos and read news from lame ass websites. Seriously, why people even use shit websites like (Nintendo Product)blog.com is beyond me. 3dsblog was a piece of shit but almost every news poster here used it. Now there's wiiublog and people will of course follow it.

The videos are retarded. Linking to a bunch of retards with a camera is just, you know, retarded. It doesn't make your point any stronger, there are plenty of Nintendo fans who would easily say the same thing. Nintendo fans are not Jesus. They're just as dirty and wrong as the rest of the fanboys. The guy can't even get his voice syncing right. That's some lame quality.

If Nintendo stopped cutting down some of their old franchises and didn't give us some shit titles then they wouldn't be holding that title. We wanted Star Fox and what do we get? A lazy remake. We wanted F-Zero and what do we get? Oh, nothing. But they're fine shipping out crap titles like Wii Play, Wii Music, Wii Sports (even Resort was pretty mediocre), Wii Party, whatever.

You always say people are "blind" by great graphics but I can safely say most of the best games I've played had great graphics for their time, and not because of the graphics. You eventually get sick of your games looking like last generation and having such a small scale.

You know, I seriously used to disagree with whatever stuff you posted but today it's like you've been reading my mind. I love Nintendo my friends know it, my family knows it I KNOW IT. But just because I've been loyal to them doesnt mean I can turn a blind I to what I see is a seriously weak line up for their newest console. I am simply stating that I am unimpressed with the product I bought and I'm looking forward to a competitors product, what is the harm in saying that? I'm not sayin "So and SO will beat so and So" that's not my point I'm saying that Nintendo has some SERIOUS competition this time around and they had better get their shit together.

That's it
