3DS Video Service
3DS News

Satoru Iwata, Nintendo President & CEO, stated that they are planning on a 3D video service. The 3D video offered with the Firmware update wasn't much to watch and played back blurry (with two side-by-side images) for some users. Let us know what you think and what you expect from the video service.

... we think it is very important to provide people with contents in which they can easily experience glassless 3D images. In particular, we need to enhance the contents which can be enjoyed passively by non-active users, like a 3D video distribution service. We will promptly work on this after the currently planned hardware update. There is no easy road to making people understand the attraction of glassless 3D images and making Nintendo 3DS widespread. We would like to adhere to these patient efforts

Wait, what hardware update, am I missing something?
Either that was a badly placed typo, or they're referring to the Wii 2.

Either way, I don't think that the video that was sent to my 3DS was blurry at all. But... I still can't wait for this 3D movie thing! If it's Netflix, that'll be GREAT!

If they release a hardware update for the 3DS I want a free upgrade, simple as that I didn't pay around £250 for a 3DS with a slightly loose hinge and the possability of the top screen being scratched by the bottom screens ridges.

"We will promptly work on this after the currently planned hardware update."
It's badly translated by NoJ.
"We will promptly work on this after the currently planned update to the [3DS] hardware." would be better.
He refers to the May update.
Which is sad, I was hoping for the 3D Video Service in May.

I quite liked the video, it's what I use when people ask "what's it like?" the fireworks bit is rather awesome.

I hope we can record our own videos too.

Yes, as far as I know I once read that Nintendo wanted to add the feature of making movies with it.

QUOTESpeaking at Nintendo's GDC 2011 keynote, company president Reggie Fils-Aime announced that the 3DS will eventually feature the ability to record live video in 3D

Really?
The fireworks part underwhelmed me. I expected something good but I guess my eyes don't work at that part.

We are getting Netflix for it in the summer, but I really hope they consider video playback (3D and non-3D) from the SD card, as well as the internet browser being able to handle streams from Youtube and similar sites.

I remember someone on GBAtemp saying that 3DS is able to handle flash and html5 as far as I know so maybe there is a chance.

I would really like to see an association with Netflix and the possibility of downloading 3D movies through the e-shop. I would love to be able to watch Alice in Wonderland, Avatar, and Tangled in 3D on the go!

They don't mean full movies.
they mean shortform content.
Like pixar shorts, 20 minute shows, shawn the sheep etc.

They already announced netflix for 3ds movies.
