Hardware 3DS to 3DS transfer question

I'm a bit confused with it, which 3DS do I start the transfer from, the one with my content or the one I'm wanting to transfer to.

I'm about to try this too.

Seems as though you have an option to make the current system the target or source. Interesting too that each system has a limit of 5 transfers lifetime. (and each system in a single transfer gets a strike against it lol)

Nintendo is so draconian about these things.

edit: Another thing, this is all or nothing unlike the DSi transfers. Almost everything on the target system will be lost save eshop balance.

edit: Ah cute, the little Pikmin now form a percentage status.

Cool. My Red 3DS is now an Ambassador system.
(and my launch Blue is now factory reset )

It appears so. All my Ambassador games transferred along with my certificate. I assume future Ambassador releases should be eligible on my new system.

The system transfer seems to send over an identical system image. It even reads the data from the old system's card. (which points to the likelyhood that the per-console keys are transferred as well )

Done, and all my stuff got transferred over, including the notifications I had left and my DoAD costumes

Well then, I may just go to GameStop and trade in my current 3DS and my DS lite, and my old copy of Ocarina of Time 3D. Hopefully that'll be enough to cover the cost and I can get the new Zelda 3DS!
