Hello, hopefully this is the right place to ask this question.

I left my 3ds in my car for a few days in my work bag and just took it out to play on it. I tried to turn it on and only the WiFi light turned on for a few seconds then went off. I tried to charge it and the charging light goes on for about 5 seconds and then goes off. I tried a different charger and still the same.

So I take the game out and it's a bit wet and also take the changeable casing off and it's a tiny bit wet under there too(so is the battery). I look in the bag it was in and there is a tiny amount of water at the bottom so something leaked( again it's hardly any water)

I think a small amount of water has gotten into the 3ds and when I take the battery out there is a small amount of what I can only explain looks like pink and blue ink on the connectors (not sure what it is, maybe from the battery?)

If it is water damaged, is there anything I can do? I have put it in rice in a sealed bag over night (does that even work?) So I'll check it tomorrow morning but I was wondering if there is any thing else I can do or am I screwed? I haven't taken it apart yet as I didn't want to void the warranty just incase I can send it back to Nintendo to fix for a price. But I bet it would just be cheaper to buy another one if it comes to that.

Does anyone have a clue what that pink inky stuff is on the battery connectors?

Even though it looks like only a tiny bit of water got in there it's probably not fixable right?

It has been in rice for about 12 hours and it now charges and also turns on if I hold the button for about 5 seconds. But then turns back off after about 15 seconds. I can use the buttons to move around the menu and start games/apps up.

Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.

The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite
    for people with beefy hands.
