Is it possible to manual update a 3DS without using the Wifi?

I have a 3DS that hasn't been updated for months (year in fact) and the only game played on it was Zelda OOT. I ask, because of the recent "Getaway" flash card and if it requires a later version than I have will I be able to update without updating to the recent one.

Thanks

You shouldn't update. Also, if an update is necessary for the Getaway to work, for sure it'll come along in the Game Card, or even in the Game ROM.
I think.

If you still want to update, you could use any gamecard that requires an update (like Mario Kart 7).

Buy a new game is the only way at the moment but at a guess I would imagine the Gateway flash card requires what firmware the game requires, so if the rom you put on the flash card needs firmware "5.1.0-11" then you need that firmware to play the game. Also I would imagine that the gateway can update to the firmware what on the rom, as it running the game 1:1 as there no way to modifier the rom to not require a update.

It didn't cross my mind to use a newer game for a specific firmware version. Thanks:)

Guess we all have to wait and see how this evolves with the Getaway flash card with regards to how firmware versions may effect certain titles, similar to PSP.
