Hardware 3ds hard mod help

if i try to hard mod my 3ds do i need only dat 0 or dat0 and dat3 or dat0-3 (other than cmd and clk). i have seen conflicting information on multiple sites. plus how do i actually flash it? i mean do i turn the console on with the usb reader in my computer? then use win32imager? thats it?

You only need DAT0. You can use DAT0-DAT3 (all 4 DAT lines) for faster read/write.

By any chance what is the difference in speed? Is it marginal? Or is it 4x as fast?
